Just about a year ago, I had my first cigar in many many years. I met up with a group of buddies in St. Paul, fellow coffee roasters, and one of them travels internationally for Boeing and brings back a box or two of CC's when he's low. Well, he brought one for each of us, we smoked them all together in a garage, and my thinking about cigars changed. For one, I re-thunk why I avoided cigars, both from a health and a Christian standpoint and realized my reasoning was wrong. And also, it showed me the wonderful camaraderie buddies can have while sharing a smoke.
I came home, ordered some Flor de las Antilles, learned how to smoke so I can still walk and not turn every shade of green, and am liking everything about the world of cigars.
Great thread! :-) its kinda fun reading other peoples stories.
As for me... I had recently bought a house and wanted to get into a new hobby. I had a studio (old converted garage) that I could make into my mancave and figured heck... Pipes or Cigars... Or both! lol my friend and his family came up from Arizona and he brought me a Partagas Black (his go to stick) as a house warming gift. We spent some great time catching up and smoking cigars and it was a time I cherish. We have gotten together at least 2 times a year when he comes back to town and we dip into my humidor and go out to the patio (as we have since moved and bought a different house with no mancave) and catch up together. One of my best friends and those moments are worth waiting for. ANYWHO... got side tracked... The Partagas SUCKED! lol I hated it. but it didn't stop me from diving into cigars anyway. lol I have introduced him to quite a few different cigars, the most recent being Ave Maria and Undercrown. its been fun
Life is like a blind fiver. You never know what you're gonna get.
