So we were thinking about going to Canada this year. But our daughter is only 6. We don't think she would appreciate it or enjoy it as much as we would. Plus we don't want her to be bored and in turn jack up our trip. Lol any suggestions on fun places to go in the US with a family? Kinda wanna avoid the big name places like Disneyland... But will listen to all suggestions :)

And before someone suggests it... I don't think living in the Shizz's basement would be enjoyable for my fam. Lol

Can't compete with Shizz's basement but Maine ain't that bad. Beaches and amusement parks in the south, Funtown/Splashtown, and Old Orchard has a small amusement park at the beach. Lots of wilderness in the north, that's God's country. End of July start of August is usually the best summer weather. Check it out.

My family vacations were 99% of the time to Lake George, NY or Hershey, PA. Both are amazing for young kids, but possibly out of your traveling radius.

Why not New Orleans? Go to Cafe Du Monde, the WWII History Museum, enjoy the French Quarter, take your kid to the Audubon Butterfly Garden, and eat a ton of good Cajun/Creole food. Also, if you feel the need to gamble, there's a lot of casinos in Biloxi, MS, that's about an hour away.

Another idea is Monterey, California. Enjoy the sights of Cannery Row or go surfing in the Pacific. The Monterey Aquarium is one of the biggest in North America. I would avoid eating at restaurants that are right on the Pacific though. They're overpriced tourist traps.

Also, San Francisco is about an hour and a half away. See the Golden Gate Bridge or walk around Chinatown. If you like tea, I'd suggest checking out Blest Tea while you're there. You can sample everything there if you want.

My girls, 9 and 8, love San Diego. This year it'll be LEGOLAND in Carlsbad. Staying at the LEGOLAND hotel so it should be fun. Right now, all my family vacations are what the kids want to do because seeing them excited makes it all worth it. Wife and I can vacation together all we want when we retire (and spend all the kids' inheritance money doing it, lol)

Legoland reminds me of Arrested Development.

San Diego is gonna be REALLY spendy... that might be one of those vacations we save up for and go on when my daughter is older. Looking into all the other suggestions this afternoon when I get some free time. :)

With a 6 year old, keep in mind that Indianapolis has the world's largest children's museum. We used to be members and knew what we wanted to do going in, but it's easily a couple of days to see everything there. The zoo is pretty cool, but on the pricey side for zoos. You could "road trip" and stay a day in Indy and then do the theme park thing and head down to Holiday World in Southern IN. Free drink stands throughout the park. Free sunscreen in the water park. I've never enjoyed an amusement park as much as going there.

I like Oliva and Quesada (including Regius) a lot.  I will smoke anything, though.

Well Texas has no end of national parks ,wilds life ,rivers ,mou tains, tiny towns, winerys. Some of the best pie you will ever taste, and I make it a thing to try pie in every place I ever go. There is seaworld, the riverwalk, six flags. Tons if historical places and muesiums.

So it looks like we are going to Victoria BC. Ive spent quite some time ballpark pricing vacation suggestions from you all and several ideas that we came up with on our own. Price wise Canada will be a great relatively priced option and ive found tons of fun family based things to do and a few things that the wife and I will enjoy that we will drag the kid along to. lol
