    I believe the thread's creator (aka you) has to "select" an answer. 

    After you select an answer, then the thread should appear as "answered"

    I thought I had asked a question when making the original thread through the proper means.  Guess maybe I had not.  That's why I was testing this function to figure it out.  So in essence, yes my question has been answered, both of them.
