GREETINGS FROM .....

Beautiful downtown Yreka, CA. First layover on our trip north to visit with BOTL EChambers in Bellingham, WA. We finally pulled away from the house at about 2:15pm today. A little later than we had planned.

About five hours through the mountains got us this far (214 mi.) and I'm pooped. I'm wrassling a 29' travel trailer behind mi camioneta and I'm worn out. It's too windy up here for a cigar but I'm sipping some Wild Turkey and slowly returning to being a human.

Later in this trip we'll also visit with Tony (0patience) and any of the other Washington or Oregon BOTLs who may turn up. I'll keep ya posted....

Road trip, with BOTL's, sounds like a great time!  What's your final destination, or is there one?

Well, the final destination is home, naturally. But I outline the whole trip here:

Sounds like fun bro, have a safe trip.  Took a month off years ago and meandered out to WA down into CA and back.

Arrived in Salem, OR after almost 7 grueling hours on the road (including a lunch/fuel stop) and I'm a pooped puppy. Immediately after parking and hooking up I felt like I was too tired to even try a cigar but after a few sips of Wild Turkey I decided 'what the hell' and fired up a My Father Le Bijou 1922. That was one of my better decisions for the day. It proves that there's still a smidgen of human left in me.

I've decided to slow my travel schedule down a bit. The days are proving to be longer than I had anticipated and are beating me up, physically and mentally. I talked with Eric (EChambers) and he agreed that it wouldn't disrupt his schedule terribly if we arrived in Bellingham a day later so that's the current plan. We'll plan to spend tomorrow night in Puyallup, WA and arrive in Bellingham on Friday.

    Later, Dudes and Dudettes....

Keep yourself safe on the road Marty; I know how difficult it can be to wrangle one of those trailers, especially for hours on end. Thanks for the updates, and I´m glad you´re having such a nice trip!

Well, kiddies, some things just aren't meant to be, I guess. I woke up this morning dreading the day ahead of me and knowing it wouldn't be the last one for this now-acknowledged Ill-planned expedition.

So, we're throwing in the towel. Even though we evidently don't believe it yet, a trip such as this one isn't one folks in their 70's and 80's should undertake. Sometimes I can be a total dumbkopf....

Anyway, thanks for your interest and best wishes. We'll head home from here but we'll do it in stages about half of what we did each day on the way up here. Those 6 and 7 hour days are really exhausting.

Could it have been the "parking and hooking up" that wore you out? Ha Ha! Take your time heading home and be safe.
