Heading down to Asheville in a couple of weeks for a long weekend and was wondering if anyone is familiar with the area. Any suggestions on site seeing or must go places would be appreciated.
America's largest private house--The Biltmore estate is located 5 minutes away. It may be pricey. I heard it was around $55 for a ticket this Christmas. Google Smokey Mountains nearby Cherokee casino about 40 minutes My daughter moved there awhile back and those are ideas off the top of my head. It is a very artsy/hipster type city and has more traffic than I was expecting for the population. My 2 cents.
Is the road to Mt Pisgah open this year? Nice restaurant with one helluva view.
“It has been a source of great pain to me to have met with so many among [my] opponents who had not the liberality to distinguish between political and social opposition; who transferred at once to the person, the hatred they bore to his political opinions.” —Thomas Jefferson (1808)
Find a place to park downtown and take a stroll. Lots of great food, galleries, and strange appearing people. The Folk Art Center is on the Blue Ridge Parkway right off Tunnel Road. The FAC will have craft demonstrators and a gallery with fine crafts.
The Native Peoples of the Americas gave tobacco to the world.
