29 years.

0patience0patience Posts: 10,665 ✭✭✭✭✭
My wife and I celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary the other day.
The amazing thing is, we had been together on and off for 7 years before we got married.
Through me leaving all over the world, doing everything and finding my way.

And even though she knew all of my flaws, she still stuck by me. Kind of amazing. LOL!

To you young folk who wonder what the secret is to a lasting marriage, it's a lot of work and compromise.

Yes, she is pretty awesome, if I do say so myself.

She watched me leave to go play baseball, go to Alaska to work on the family fishing vessels over and over, leave all over the world and still she decided that we should get married.
She evidently knew that I would plant my feet.

We started going out in high school.
Her family never thought we would last, because I was a "flight risk" and the "You don't know what he does when he disappears."
The right money and I would disappear for months.

Even if I was, I could neither confirm, nor deny any involvement in that sort of thing. ROFL!

Congratulations to you and your wife. Puts up with your leaving for various jobs???? She probably enjoys some time alone, don't retire--you'll likely drive her nuts.

When I took this current job, she almost chased me out of the house, I went from working 7 days a week, 12 hours a day, to 5 days a week, 8 hours a day.
Now I work 4 ten hour days. LOL!
When I switched jobs, she was working more too, so it evened itself out.
