My tuppedors in the cooler have been working well, but the Wife doesn't like the looks of it so we'll be looking for a used wine fridge.

So I was thinking of putting an ice pack in a zip lock to control the condensation but that seem redundant. It's going in my box cooler. Any tip would be appreciated.
Also I bought some spainh cedar shreds. I feel like it can be mold prone. Do you guys think its necessary to have?

You'd need a LOT of moisture to make the cedar mold. No ice pack. The cigars will be fine. They don't keep them air conditioned in south america.

I would not put an ice pack in the cooler in a Ziploc bag because even then you will have comdensation.

What's the max temperature you are getting? If it's too hot, it might be better to drop to 65% Bovedas to prevent any mold and just ride the temps out.

@Wylaff has a cooler in Reno and has no problems with cigars at higher temps.

Crazy this thread came back to life. I just got my 450 count herf coolador today. Put a couple of dog bowls filled with distilled water in it to season for a week or two

That Spanish cedar is also mold resistant, which is why it's used in humidors.

@ScotchnSmoke sux lots of large wéiners. And tons of small ones.

So I'm getting a new cooler on monday.
To clean it, do I use alchohol or should I use baking soda?
Also how do I season a cooler?
Last time I'd just put a bowl water in it. It hit 80% pretty fast.

I think you may be overthinking this thing. Coolers do not require seasoning, as there is no moisture absorption by the plastic medium. Wash it out, dry it well, and use sufficient Boveda packs to humidify X number of cigars. All done.

Me, personally, I use food grade plastic containers with a Boveda in each and put those in the cooler. If you're not doing this, you may wish to use sticks of Spanish Cedar (mahogany) as spacers for air circulation in the cooler.

    Its for boxes.
I was thinking about putting it in ziplock with a boveda. Then in the cooler.

Yeah, no seasoning required for a cooler like @Amos_Umwhat said. Using the ziplocks can be a good idea but it’s not necessary. Just watch heavily painted boxes. Sometimes the smell will absorb into cigars over time. If you can still smell the paint, you’ll end up tasting it after awhile.

If it don’t bother me, it don’t bother me. Just leave me alone.

Buy a dozen or so 60 gram bovedas, fill the cooler with cigar boxes and add the boveda. Done.
