WHICH WOULD YOU PICK?

BigDaddyBigDaddy Posts: 124 ✭✭✭
I want to buy a box of cigars for my son's wedding September 10th.  He is my only son and I want a real good Cuban cigar.  So here are my choices.  I would like to hear everyone's opinion, especially if you have smoked one of them.

1. Bolívar Belicosos Finos
2. Bolívar Libertador
3. Montecristo #2

Beli Fino, it's still my benchmark cigar that I measure all other ISOM's against. They are brilliant.

BBF for the win, however, the Monte #2 are just as good.

BBF's for the smell alone. Many say their not like the old BBF's. Never had one so I can only say these are good in my book. The libs are are good also. But for amount and price BBF's.

You can't really go wrong with any of them IMO.

I like the way you think.  But, the wife has me on a budget until the price of oil comes back up.  Business is too slow right now.
But, when is does come back up..... I'm ALL IN!!!

WOW... so far the BBF's are taking it hands down.  They must really be good. The reviews were way over the top for experienced smokers or beginners.  All walks loved them.

Do they really have a natural sweetness to them?

As I said it is hand down my benchmark cigar that I measure EVERYTHING else against. I've been lucky enough to smoke hundreds and hundreds of sticks and it is still my benchmark. I like be the Monte's though haven't tried other Boli's but for the Monte it is very good but much milder and much creamier but nowhere near the strength and depth of flavor for me. You won't go wrong with any of them mind you, but for the cream of the crop BBF without question.

Ok, so can I ask why you chose those 3?

PSD4 or RASS are considerably less money.
But give the choices, I would go with the Monte 2, then the BBF.

Mostly bases on vitola and cost.

Out of those 3 I would pick the BBF however I would also look at Hoyo Epicure #2 or the Ramon Allones Specialy Select as well as the San Cristobal La Punta
    Team O'Donnell FTW!

Out of the three, my vote is strongly for the BBF. Great sticks with an appeal for a wide range of tastes I think. Personally not a big fan of the Monte's.

I wanted to buy REAL Cubans and I was told the Monte 2 was very good in the Cuban. Plus I'm a Montecriso guy.

The Monte #2 is very hit and miss. If you get good ones they are very good but that's no guarantees.

    Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!
Ease up on the reigns big fella.
PSD4 and RASS aren't considered REAL cubans by whom?

Crap, all this time, I've been misled.
    LOL!

Again, "good" cubans is as subjective as any other cigar.
You are a Cuban Monty person or a non-cuban Monty person.
Cause you realize they are completely different critters, right?

Agree @0patience! The cc montes never really wowed me. Every bolivar I've had has been good. Cc montes and nc's montes are way different and you shouldn't put either name together. Personally I like the punch punch, rass, trinidads and bolivars. Some montes are good but any cc needs a nap and well at least 3 monthes time before you try one so take that into consideration

If you are buying them, I would suggest a SLB over a dressed box. They will age better unless you plan on chain smoking them. These should rest for some time as well. IMO.

Agree with the above posts...plus maybe you should find a good "dealer" first! Too many noobs have been burned and will still get burned because they don't know any better
