Suggestions for cigars to smoke now

RolanddeschainRolanddeschain Posts: 898 ✭✭✭✭✭
Greetings all...
As a newb I have fallen into the same problem that I'm sure alot of us have at some point or another......Im needing to get some cigars to smoke 'now' while the sticks in my mini-fridgeador age a bit. I bought a bunch of different things on the sprint sale but all things I'm reading say they should age anywhere from 3months to over a year. I'm not against buying from my B+M to tide me over but I guess im wondering if anyone can suggest a decent smoke that only requires a few weeks to acclimate?
TIA

Long days and pleasant nights,

Roland

One of the benefits of a B&M is a lot of the sticks they are selling have a couple months on them. Plus it's always good to support a B&M. The aging thing is getting a little blown out of proportion. If you buy online it benefits to wait 2 weeks before smoking so they acclimate to conditions. check out this article by Steve Saka about aging.

As as far as something to smoke now, La Palina, crowned heads, Arturo Fuente, most Tatuaje, Romacraft, Black Label trading, Ezra Zion, and many more. Try a Laranja by Espinosa. Very good stick not overpowering.

Basically everything that is sold is "ready to smoke" however some cigars just don't taste all that great until it has a few months to a year, or five.  In my opinion the "budget" cigars fall more into that category.  In my opinion manufactures such as Crowned Heads, La Palina, most Tatuaje, RoMa Craft, 1502, and most of the Black Label Trading Company are great rott.  There are more that is just to name a few.

Patrick is a smart man. While aging will change the character of the smoke most companies don't even ship to the retailers until they are ready to smoke.  Let them spend a couple of weeks in the humidor after they have been shipped to bring them to your desired rh and you'll be good to go

Learning something new every day. So essentially I should just keep doing what I'm doing and I should be fine. As my 'collection' builds I want to age some things a bit but until then I'm just going to enjoy the ride:)

To add to Eric and Patrick's replies...  cigars are ready Right Of The Truck (ROTT) in terms of where the cigars are in their life cycle, but we like to let them sit and acclimate because of the conditions they go through on the way to us; airplanes, hot UPS trucks, sweaty post offices, etc.  Don't let the idea that they'll be better in a month keep you from realizing they'll be good in a few days; just because a cigar gets better in a couple years doesn't mean it can't be good in a couple weeks.

Ronald, send me a PM and let me know if you have any time Sunday afternoon to stop over.  My schedule is cramped because of everything I have to do before leaving for TN to herf w/ Nolagizmo and the others, but I'd like to have you over and thin out my inventory so you can let your new stuff sit for a spell.

Best way to get aged is cigars is to just buy more than you smoke ;)

Plus it answers the question, what cigar pairs with an IPA.

It's funny how the problem sorts itself out. I had bought sprint sales here and there and then a few trades....and with the hot weather I wasn't smoking at all.
Now things have been sitting in my humidor for several weeks to a few months(depending on when I acquired it) and I have a selection of choices for my evening indulgence. Definitely a First World problem:)

Just started working on that myself a couple of months ago. Only seems logical and Spock agrees.
