The Shuriken makes 6 slits in the cap. Supposedly it makes for a nice draw without wrecking the cap.Long days and pleasant nights,

Supposedly but from what I have seen that's not trueRolanddeschain said:The Shuriken makes 6 slits in the cap. Supposedly it makes for a nice draw without wrecking the cap.Team O'Donnell FTW!

Pretty much the consensus on the Colibri guillotine cutters too.avengethis said:

I think the Shuriken must've been promoted by the same agent who 'discovered' Willie Nelson.
Wait for it.....1 -
I've purchased (and sometimes recieved as freebies) quite a few of the colibri cutters like the one in your photo. That was before I tried a Xicar xi2. The Xicar teardrop cutters are excellent. I used to prefer a punch because cheap cutters were frustrating.2

The Shuriken was a gift from my wife(I think she likes the idea of not having to snip or punch when she wants the occasional cigar) so I'm going to give it a try. Either way my cigar clutter is beginning:)

As a follow up to the shuriken, it actually works pretty well. The key is to gently squeeze your teeth on the cap for the first few minutes of smoking to open the slits. It made for a nice draw and no big deal......that being said, my punch works just as well without the biting.:)Long days and pleasant nights,

I'll stick with my xikars.
I've tried dozens of different ones, including the "gimmick" ones and always seem to return to the xikars.
Even my dull xikars cut better than most.
Although, I used to have a cheapy cutter I picked up years ago, that worked so great, it was my go to cutter. Then, one fateful day, it committed suicide and jumped out of my shirt pocket over a bridge, where I was working on a crane.
The bad thing was, there was no brand or anything to get another one.
Personally, the Xi1 is my preference and only because the release switch is more comfortable to me.

I am using a xi4 currently. I like the way both sides close together, but the xi3 still feels nicer when it cuts."Cooking isn't about struggling; It's about pleasure. It's like sǝx, with a wider variety of sauces."

@90+_Irishman just sent me a Shuriken. I'm an inch into smoking an Undercrown Shade that I cute with it and I love it already. Absolutely stellar draw and cool smoke that feels great on this hot southern July night.
