Hydra LG vs. Cigar Oasis Magna 2.0

Ok so like I said, I've had to get creative to maintain proper RH levels in my new tower of doom.
I have not 1 but 2 Hydra LG running in it, and still have problems.

I've discovered that green floral foam stops absorbing water after a few weeks.  Replacement foam from hobby lobby doesn't really seem to work right, and it's just a mess.
The hydra says it's dry and the alarm goes off constantly.

So I ordered the Cigar Oasis Magna 2.0.
It uses the beads that suck up half a gallon at a time.
Ive read tons of reviews, and even called a few people that use then in bigger towers.

Is anyone using one of these yet?

I will post my finding here.

    I have the magna with the extended water tank and two packets of beads. It holds one gallon of water and works great. Much better than that green foam crap.

    the green foam will mold over time. Best to stay away and replace the green foam

    Ok first thoughts.
    I have removed the hydras and replaced them with the cigar Oasis Magna 2.0.
    It's sitting in the very bottom of my cabinet.
    With the Hydra I needed a second one in the middle of the cabinet to humidify the top.
    The humidity never made it to the top with one Hydra running in the bottom.  Even with a bunch of extra fans running, the humidity just never made it to the top of the cabinet.

    The fans on the cigar Oasis are much more powerful, you can see where the air exits from in the picture.  And it is blowing it all the way to the top along the glass.
    After just a few minutes it went from 47 to 64 with no problem.
    I'm sorry I wasted any money on the hydras.
    Luckily they have both developed a problem and I can send them back.

    Glad I went with the Magna.  Did you use the beads?  Did any aux fans come with it?

    Yes beads, and no fans came with it.
    I just ordered extra beads they are $6 a pack from cigarfresh.com.
    I'll probably order the wifi module and the extra fans in the next couple of weeks.
    When you get that little package of beads, you don't think they are going to be enough.
    But they are lol, those little suckers absorb a lot of water.

    Um....
    Gel beads.... they're smaller than bb's,  and hard as a rock.
    You think it's a joke, when you pour them into the basin, because you're supposed to dump over a half gallon of distilled water and with them.
    You don't see how they could possibly absorb that much water.
     but they do, perfectly round balls.

    Okay I 0wn 2 Hydra LG humidifiers.
    One of them has a problem with the fan Port, it won't run the fans anymore. It will run the fans permanently in the DC out port.
    The Fan port only runs the fans when they humidifier is on.
    The DC Port runs them continuously.

    The other one has completely died.
    I am replacing it through Amazon.

    2 hydras both with issues.

    I found reference to another humidifier called a le Veil.
    It works on the same Principle as the oasis, with the gel beads.
    I might try that one out

    Ok
    So I still have a hydra LG in the middle, and the oasis on the bottom.

    I turned off the Hydra, but I'm still using it to run the fans in the top part of the humidor.
    Cigar Oasis is running, and it is doing a great job of keeping the entire humidor humid.

    68 on top, 70 in the middle, and 68 in the drawers.
    I have 1 remote in the top drawer.

    Working fine now.

    You have an image of the whole humidor???  Just taking notes for when I eventually get a tower.

    Awesome!  I'll be there.  I really enjoyed the first one.  I love stuff like that.  Really gets me excited for the day I can enjoy something that amazing.  Maybe after my daughters have left for college and my wife has found a hobby that doesn't entail coming up with work for me to do.

    Glad it works better Jeff. I have a concern about your labelling scheme, dont you think it would be better to label how many of each variety you have, like Feral Pigs 3, of course you would have to print a new label every time you smoke a cigar but I am sure there are work arounds for that

    @sketch6995. Did you get the wifi module for the magna?  If so how is it working?  I just ordered one and the fan expansion kit.

    Not yet, should've ordered fans, cigar fresh will send them to you for free. They are supposed to be in the Box

    I just went to their site and sent an email. Then looked on the Magna page and there is a disclaimer that external fans do not come with the unit since they upgraded the fans on the unit.

    Ok my 3d hydra died.  Poor design, the ports just stop allowing the plug to seat.
    Worthless product.  I'm forced to buy another oasis.
    Much better product.

    Don't waste any effort buying the auxiliary fans for the magna.
    You get the same little tiny fans that you would get with the small hydra.
    They push no air.

    Ok so an update.
    3d hydra died.  The main fans no longer work. 
    So I took one of the small hydras and plugged in 5 fans, 2 of them are on tip of the broken hydra lg, they are aimed down through the machine, I'm using them for the main fans.
    They are plugged into the fan part so they go off when it reaches my desired humidity level.
    I'm using the small Hydra to run it all.
    The fans that are in the cigar trays run 24/7.
    I've ordered another cigar Oasis Magna 2.0 it should be here sometime today.
    This is Afro-American Ingenuity at its finest LOL.
    So that's 3 Dead Hydra LG's.
    1 working oasis.
