Humidity question

When I wake up in the morning, after not opening the humidor for eight hours, I get some really wonky readings.

70 on top

70 on the bottom

Which is as it should be that's where I have the humidifier set.

But right in the middle of the cabinet it's 74 or 75.

Everything I've read tells me humidity Rises, well and good.
But I have fans circulating the air in the upper half of the cabinet.

Why does the humidity always read higher in the middle?

Try switching your hygrometers around and see if that's still the case...

I've switched them around, and I get the same readings.

It seems to accumulate in the middle.

    And......

How are your fans aligned? Can you get the ones on the one side blowing up and the ones on the other side blowing down?

Lol they all blow up in the back, I have them sitting flat on the trays.
They only turn on when the humidifier is actually running.

I've got another set of high-speed fans for the cigar Oasis Magna coming monday.
They will blow up as well.

Do you think having bottom and top opposite side fans would get a circular possibly more even circulation?

Expl:  bottom left blowing up, top right blowing down?

No, I have 8 drawers in the middle of the unit, that prevents air circulation patterns.
So I settle for blowing it up thru the trays at the top, and a few fans to circulate it on the bottom.

There is about 1/4 inch gap between the drawers and the glass.
I have to treat it like 2 smaller humidors because of the drawers.

Did you ever figure this out? I bought a Whynter 250 count humidor/winedor and I'm seeing something similar. I've got 3 hygrometers and they always read a higher RH in the middle.

    It's called getting old.

Yes I did.  It had to do with the seasoning.  I had to run not 1, but 2 cigar oasis's, 1 on the bottom and 1 on top of the 8 drawers.
    Now,
This humidor sat inside a large walk in humidor for at least a month before I bought it, I figured it was pretty well seasoned.
Even so, I wiped it down with distilled water a couple of times after I brought it home.

At 1st I had to run to humidification devices because that top part wasn't getting humid .
But after about 90 days I noticed it wasn't running as often, So I took the Top one out.

The oasis sits on the bottom because humidity rises, easier than it falls.  Or so I've heard.
It took 3 months for this thing to become fully seasoned.  And like I said when that happened I only needed one humidification Device.

Now those drawers in the middle were kind of a bad idea, Even though they have slots cut in them they really block airflow.

Now I've had the door open, but, I have 3 wireless xikars.  I used to run 80mm fans, but took them out.  They added heat.

My humidity stays right where I put it.
But the bottom, which is 3 feet down, is always a little higher, it sits at 70 or 71, while the middle is 69, and the very top is at 68.
The inside of the drawers stays right at 69 at all times.

Why would humidity rise? Would humid air be more dense than dry air?

    ^^^^^^ what he said
I removed the bottom cigar oasis first.
Bad idea, it didn't seem to travel down very well.

It's the tropics. Always damper in those middle latitudes.
