It's almost time for Playoff Hockey ......

Welcome back for the 4th annual NHL Playoff Bracket League!

If you've never played before, think "March Madness" bracket....only for the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. 

- Buy in of 5 premium hand-rolled cigars.
- Payouts TBD based on number of entrants. 
- Good traders list, please.  Or someone must vouch for you. 


The regular hockey season ends this Sunday night (4/9) and the playoff games begin next Wednesday evening (4/12). 
Therefore, you will need to fill out your bracket between Sunday 4/9 - Wednesday 4/12.

In previous years, NHL.com has hosted the leagues but I've not seen anything about the brackets this year yet.  If I don't see anything from NHL.com by this Thursday (4/6) ... we will use pooltracker.com.

If you're interested in playing, please leave comment below.

And look for an update this Thursday (4/6) with sign up info.

    Alright fellas, glad to have y'all again this year!!!! 

    I think my wife wants to fill out a bracket too, I'll vouch for her if, that's alright with you guys lol.  (And of course she plans on raiding my humidors for her "buy-in" lol)


    I still haven't seen anything on NHL.com regarding bracket leagues this year.
    I'm thinking maybe they're not hosting it this year after the site redesign last offseason and their partnership with MLB advanced media for their media/stats services. 

    If not, and I don't see anything by tomorrow from NHL.com, like I said earlier we'll use pooltracker.com.
    This will be the scoring format on pooltracker.com: 
    » 1 point for each correct pick in Round 1
    » 2 points for each correct pick in Round 2
    » 4 points for each correct pick in Round 3
    » 8 points for the correct Champion

    The brackets went live on NHL.com this morning.  Good, I prefer the layout on NHL.com.

    You'll have to create an NHL.com account if you don't have one already.

    NOTE: Brackets will not open until all sixteen teams in the 2017 Stanley Cup® Playoffs have been determined (no later than April 10).
    And you will need to fill out your bracket by April 12 @ 700 PM ET


    The same scoring that NHL.com had last year, including the 1st round bonus points.

    » 10 points for each correct pick in Round 1
    » 3 bonus points/matchup by correctly picking the Round 1 winner and how many games will be played in that series

    » 25 points for each correct pick in Round 2

    » 50 points for each correct pick in Round 3

    » 100 points for the correct Champion

    Good luck to you Wayne. I think there's going to be some VERY exciting matchups this year.  

    I haven't been following the western conference very much, but I'm hoping for a MIN v CHI series.

    Also feel free to invite any of your hockey-fan friends (that are not on CCOM) too. 

    As long as you vouch for them, and they are good for the 5 cigar buy-in, they are more than welcome to play as well.

    for some reason it is saying the league is password protected, I enter cigars and it doesnt let me in

    brad @avengethis ; it looks like you're already signed up. 

    make sure you are logged in with your NHL username & password and try clicking that blue "create bracket" button

    hmm wtf that's weird.

    FWIW, i just tried submitting my bracket and it wouldn't go through.  so perhaps it's an issue on the NHL.com side of things? 

    i've tried a couple different browsers, clearing my internet cache, etc and still no luck. 

    i'm going to try again this afternoon, hopefully it's working by then.

    Same issue, I signed in but will not accept password. Hopefully fixed soon.

    Alright fellas I was able to log in and submit a bracket just now.  If you were having problems yesterday I'd suggest trying it again today.

    • It appears that @Wylaff ; and @CharlieHeis ; have submitted their brackets already. You two fellas might want to double check them and be sure it saved correctly.
    • It looks like @johnnyB ; & @jgibv 's wife joined the league but have not submitted/saved a bracket yet.
