I think it's a very drastic position to take. The few I know of indirectly are nutty

The one I know ( More like knew ) is a guy I used to work with back in the mid 90s. He wasn't that bad the first couple of years I knew him, but started going off the deep end as time when by. A very smart guy, but was always looking to fight authority. The last time I talked to him was Dec 1999 when he was gearing up for the Y2K scare. He rambled on for a couple of hours about sovereign citizen and a bunch of other things.....His paranoia and weapon arsenal drove me, his wife and family away from him. I have no idea whatever became of him.
I saw that guy last night on Live PD going on about not needing a drivers licence and it reminded me of him.

I look at it from a very different view point.
Some (enrolled) Native Americans are in essence, sovereign citizens of the reservation, which are sovereign states with their own constitutions and those people are under the laws and regulations of the reservation.
But, if they leave the reservation, they are subject to the laws and regulations of the United States, the same as anyone else.

Let them go to a country like the Ukraine or one of those and flash their sovereign citizen credentials and see what happens.

As Quickdraw says, they are very smart.  I teach police officers and I tell them these people are crazy, not stupid!  You have to be very careful dealing with them.  According to them, the don't need a license, registration, insurance and all that other pesky stuff the government and states require.

The only time I use the term Sovereign Nation is when I am speaking about Native Americans.  It is their land.

I interviewed for a chief of police position in a town in the southern tier of NY state.  It was a really cool situation.  The Seneca Nation owed the land and they leased it to the town every 100 years for one dollar.  They also have a thriving casino there.  The town people do everything they can to see that they get business and succeed because the Nation gives them a portion of the profits.  It is a great relationship and is a lot different that other situations in NY.

The best demonstration of how ridiculous (IMHO) these people are was at a boarder crossing with mexico. Three people in a car and they were pulled over. The first thing out of the driver's mouth "we are filming this", cop replies "so are we". She refused to open the window and exit the car. I can't believe the length of time and the amount of grief given to the cops.
To the end. The widow was smashed and the driver dragged out of the car. She fought tooth and nail and only made the situation worse. Off to jail with a myriad of charges.

^ That's the type of reaction they're looking for to strengthen their believe in the law/government is out to get them.

Never thought about reservations being a Sovereign Nation. I've only ever been in one.... The Cherokee Reservation in North Carolina and that long time ago......I need to really get out more.

    Have I asked this?
If sovereign fruitcakes claim not be be citizens of this country, can they be deported?
Oh silly me, we can't even deport illegal criminal immigrant aliens.

Most folks are too stupid to know anything important these days, so what's the point of even discussing the matter? Either you're a supporter of the system we have, be it good or bad, or you're SOL because there's no room for people who don't OBEY.

The reason I watch the YouTube sovereign citizen vids is because I need some humor in my life. The "real" news is usually so depressing I go to YouTube and laugh my arse off.
