I had posted a photo of the check below in the What Did You Get Today Thread, but when the idea hit me that it would be more fun to let y'all guess why the WI Dept of Corrections is sending me money, I decided a new thread would be better than clogging up the WDYGT thread.

If you know because I told you about this, let it ride for a while, OK?

    Glad to see they got those involved @peter4jc! Hopefully you do not lose anything that was irreplaceable during the invasion.

    The only thing I lost was a sense of peace and security.  But that only lasted a few days as I realized nothing comes to me unless it's filtered through the hands of a loving Heavenly Father, and I got back to my happy place, knowing that His purposes are higher than mine even when they're beyond my pea-brain's ability to comprehend.

    They took $500 in cash, a camera, my phone and my wedding band from my late wife.  The insurance co. gave me $1000 for the ring and I thought, "Meh, if somebody offered me a grand for it I would've sold it anyway," cold-hearted sumbitch that I am.  The 58" plasma (which I think is what they saw and came for in the first place) was junk before they got it out of the house since they didn't bother to remove the coax when they yanked it off the wall and bust off the little connector.

    It was all a good lesson, on forgiveness and how to find peace in the midst of a schmidty situation.  Because of the damage from the bullets when they shot up the place on their way out I basically got half of my kitchen remodel paid for.  Just one of those things we all go through - different packaging but we all go through it.
