One thing you just may not know about me but could have probably guessed is that I am a pie fiend. During the holidays, I like to bake. So today, I baked 3 cinnamon chocolate pumpkin double layer pies, and a chocolate bourbon pecan pie. Tomorrow, I have a banana cream pie and strawberry rhubarb pie. Thursday I'm going to make some brioche chocolate bread pudding and a savory onion pie, which is a great breakfast treat or side item at the main meal.
Most of the recipes are out of a cookbook that I've tinkered with, but the chocolate pumpkin pie is what I've come up with on my own over the last 20 years. I start with a whole pie pumpkin... Sometimes I used two just to make sure I get two full cups of puree.
In case anyone wants it, here's the recipe.

Oh, did you know my favorite pie is pie.
For shame!
So now an emergency pie is going in ahead of the turkey:
Now I know why ralphie's old man hated the Bumpkis' hounds!
Banana cream pie with cool whip
Chocolate pumpkin pie with homemade cinnamon topping
Warm chocolate bread pudding with WC and chocolate sauce
Each kid helped me make one of them. Verdict:. Chocolate pumpkin pie by a landslide. It was 4-1-0 in favor of the double layer pie. 5 votes if you count the yellow lab who got the first one last night. I was the only holdout for the bread pudding, but the kids didn't like the texture (which was spot-on textbook perfect). No votes for the banana cream, though my oldest daughter who helped me wasn't upset. We kept the bourbon pie out of the challenge because it was too boozy
Thank God Christmas is around to corner, I will be baking again for sure!
