a great obituary...
Robert A. Nelson
DENNIS PORT -On September 27th 2020, after a noisy lifetime of bourbon, bacon, and cigars, Robert A. Nelson slipped away quietly in the night at his summer home in Dennis Port, MA at the age of 80. For those who didn’t know him, Bob was an unique mix of all-things classical music and a stack of old Mad Magazines. He enjoyed fine art, extreme couponing, dusty library books about World Wars, and forcing the neighbors to choose between listening to his opera de jour or wearing earplugs. He leaves behind an ever-loving (and longsuffering) wife Dorothy, his daughters Kristin Nelson Santamauro and Heather Dewan, and three grandchildren. Bob’s communication style was such that those closest to him may not recall hearing him say the words “I love you” but none of them ever doubted that he did.
In lieu of a traditional Viking dragon boat funeral, a small celebration of life will be held at such time as the invitees will not be at risk of becoming honorees.
Anyone interested in making a memorial donation should do so at their local food pantry. Bob liked to eat and he would be in favor of others also having the opportunity to do so.
In closing, the world will be far less delightfully absurd for his passing.
