Propylene Glycol
I used to always use propylene glycol and distilled water in my humidor, but after I received my new humidor I started only using propylene glycol to mumidify my cigars. Did put myself in great danger doing this?
I've been doing this for the last year year-and-a-half
Thank you....

I can only speak for myself but I only use the solution that comes in Boveda packs.
I am concerned, I really didn't realize what I was doing. I should have known better
What is it that you are concerned about?
Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy cigars and that's close enough.
Just hit some Gummie Dog shapes.
Insightful ^
I don't know why you would be concerned. I fill my beads with both. Depends on what is closer to where I'm sitting at the time.
I may be wrong but I thinks he is saying that he used it 100% and it is supposed to be mixed 50/50 with distilled water.
It has to be safe or it wouldn’t be used even at half strength but it may affect the taste of the cigars. I tried some years ago and thought it gave the sticks a plastic taste.
it is also used as a carrier for flavoring in aromatic pipe tobacco, it is hygroscopic which is why aromatic pipe tobacco rarely dries out. I hate smoking the stuff. As a conditioner for humidors I would imagine if it was not mixed with water it would draw moisture from the ambient air and cigars. So it would be wise to recondition your humidor with plain distilled water.

Thank you all for your advice,...I just realized it was pre-mixed.
Did you put yourself in great danger?
That's the one I use...
It's also good for keeping beverages from freezing in the winter.

So you bought half a bottle of water?
I usually buy full bottles of water for my cigars, so I consider it a win.
If you have green foam, toss it and get something without it.
Or, just get Boveda packs or equivalent (beads, crystals, etc
.

Are Boveda some how superior to the other methods? or is it convenience and space saving?

Boveda are superior. There are several threads on the subject. You can’t go wrong with them.
They are nearly foolproof and can even be recharged. They will provide moisture if the humidity is low and will absorb moisture if the humidity is high, a two-way system.
It seems the ones i ordered i am going to shelve and buy lesser

I use 65s in ziplocs. 69s in my wooden humidor.

Bovedas AND beads together for an almost maintenance free setup.
My simple mind says after that time you'd know if it was a problem .
