Ice Classic Contest
The Tripod is up, a sure sign there’s still 6 weeks of Alaskan winter left. It’s time to guess the minute the Nenana River ice goes out and claim your piece of the Frozen Freakin’ North. Up for grabs is a forum fiver to the winner, no purchase necessary, and doncha wanna know how it works? It’s simple! How simple is it? So simple even the newest cheechako can do it!
The hour is broken into 12 slots, each slot covers 5 minutes. Slot 1 is 00-04, Slot 2 is 05-09, and so on. Pick any one slot, 1 through 12. First come, first served, your first pick sticks, only one winner, actual mileage may vary, product sold by weight not by volume, caution: contents are hot, may cause drowsiness, not to be used by snowflakes, odds of winning 1 in 12.
The official winning is time comes from the Nenana Ice Classic clock as posted on their website. (www.nenanaiceclassic.com) Info, webcam, & stuff is there. The ice usually goes out between April 20 and May 10 so this one’s not gonna be quick.
Contest is open until all 12 slots are filled or April 5, 2021. Slots still open after that date will stay blank. If the clock stops on a blank slot, the pick nearest without going past it, wins. So if Slot 2 is blank and 1 & 3 are filled, if the clock stops at 08, Slot 1 wins it.
Standard good traders boiler plate applies.
That’s pretty much it. Simple. Holy raging Hobbit boners! You’ve got an 8.33% chance of hitting this, what’re you waitin’ for?
(The real Ice Classic is a little tougher. Pick the exact date and time of day to the minute. Tickets are $2.50 each; a single winner is looking at about a quarter mil in payout. If you want into that, PM me for details.)
