I grabbed a handful of robusto sized cigars and some measured 18 grams and others 12 grams so figure 30 - 45 cigars per pound. So maybe a buck to almost two bucks per cigar.

So by the time it gets to us, 3 to almost 4 bucks so the retailers and manufacturers can pocket some extra cash

Premium cigars will find a carve out, they always do. Of course the hits keep coming and if they throw enough shyt at the wall, eventually some may stick. Hopefully, it can be dodged again.

The purpose of sin tax is tax. The excuse for sin tax is sin.

That’s if they only weigh the cigars, wouldn’t be surprised if the included the packaging. I’m pretty sure they include the packaging in drug seizures, drastically increasing the weight. @Stubble is this correct?

Initial charges, yes. Everything got sent to a lab where it was unwrapped and weighed again. AUSA would then amend net weight vs gross weight.

Do they still estimate value of a bust by breaking it down to the smallest street value? IE A ton bust of MJ, gets it's value estimated as single joints.

Don't let the wife know what you spend on guns, ammo or cigars.

I don't know what they are doing now. We had set amounts per pound, which was dumb as it did not account for purity. A pound of ditch weed was the same as a pound of hydroponic...we never estimated by a singular dosage. Always by weight.
