I want Steve to know we're in his corner, pulling for him.
Pop in here when you can Steve and give us an update, please.

Taking a couple of Advils and smoking a cigar or two for you, Steve. Take it easy.
Well, now I know how it feels to walk into a circular saw. 5 bypassed coronary arteries. The two hardest things have been 1. whoever was extubating me seemed to want to change her mind in the middle of removing the tube in my lungs, thus cutting off all oxygen. I started fighting her and felt my breastbone crunch as I slowly suffocated. So I started spelling the words choking, and you're killing me into Faye's hand. She told them, and they said " oh no, he's just medicated and doesn't know what he's doing " . I began shaking my head NO, and then tried to bite the tube in two so I could breathe. When that didn't work I tried to break the beeches arm. As I was passing out I heard my Son say " instead of trying to get pretty numbers on the ventilator, why don't you just pull the tube out so he can breathe?" I think I was shaking my head yes, and she finally did it. The second thing is that because of the opioid crisis, the surgeons have come to believe that having your sternum sawed in two and breaking 6 sets of ribs is the kind of pain that Tylenol should handle.
I disagree, and had my son and my best friend, who founded the school of addiction medicine at the University of Tennessee speak with them about that. Suddenly they thought that maybe some percoset might be OK 👌.
So, other than that, I'm progressing well. Out of the hospital, not coughing up blood these past few hours. Worn out and weak as water. Somebody burn a Hemingway for me. Will leave the hotel and head home in the morning. Nephews have been busy at the farm 🚜 for me. Faye's some kind of Saint and angel wrapped up in one human body. I will be around when I am able.

I must also say that other than the complaints above, the hospital staff was wonderful. Great people doing great work. One of the nurses had been through 2 heart transplants. I'm in awe of him. Marvelous people taking care of me.

Wonderful news! You can't have the operation go too perfectly, otherwise some people won't lead a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent it . Jokes aside, very glad you're ok. Keep us updated.
I’m a 5-way bypass survivor, but my operation was a walk in the park compared to what you went through, @Amos_Umwhat. You are one tough dude and my hat’s off to you.
I probably wouldn’t have had the presence of mind to be able to cause that nurse to get the job done right.
Well done, lad. Keep on keepin’ on…. 👍👴🏻
Good news to hear.....Not the problems you had, but you're on the mend.
People like to brag what an inventive era we live in today... Me, I think our brainchildren are trivial compared to a hundred years back. I'd rate pain killers over tweets any day. In Grandpa's yoot, the doc would say "Take a swig, bite down hard on this, these five guys will hold you down so's you don't squirm, and if you feel like passing out that's prolly a good idea." Then whip off your leg.
Hey, just Friday they yanked out a bag of rocks where my gall bladder used to live & handed me a jar of Percosets I haven't even opened. You need it, it's yours... Addy me, and I'll mail it to you.
Tho, these days, the snail mail will prolly get it to you next month when you're back to chasing Faye round the mulberry bush.
Survival rocks.
Glad to hear you are on the mend Steve!
What an ordeal to go through. I'm glad you're a fighter, feel better soon.
I think you need a neanderthal to help you recover, brother! Glad to hear the good news.
Wow, and I thought getting my fingertip split was bad. Glad you're on the other side of it now.

@Amos_Umwhat Steve glad you're on the mends, praying for you.
Glad you are doing well. Follow the docs orders
That sounds like a living nightmare, knowing exactly what they're doing wrong as they bungle it, cutting off your air supply. Glad that didn't go any worse than it already did.
There is nothing worse than not being able to breath. That must have been a nightmare. Glad you're on the mend.
Thinking and praying for you Steve.
Glad to hear you are home and on the mend. I've got a Hemingway I'll burn for you. Hang in there.
Keep fighting the good fight (the one to live) Steve!
MOW badge received.
Keeping you in our prayers Steve! Wishing you a speedy recovery
If you want to bomb me send it to Tony @0patience
If you are a newbie I got Dem nachos....
thanks all

Prayers brother!
Good to hear from you.
Keep toughing it out brother. Each day is a gift.
Glad to hear it went well (except for the whole almost being suffocated to death thang). Heal well Steve.
Here you go Steve, thinking about you.
How is the recovery going?
Pretty good. One day I seem to have energy, the next day, not so much. I can pull 3750cc on the spirometer sometimes. Walk about 15 - 20 minutes, then it's nap time. Coughing is still a world shaking torture, but slowly getting better.
Brain power waxes and wanes. I'm reminded of a Mark Twain short story, "Encounter with an Interviewer" in which he apologizes to the interviewer stating "My powers seem to be under a cloud today...". Story was based on an actual Twain interview, by Rudyard Kipling no less! Funny piece.

Steve hoping for the best and get better ASAP.
Glad you're getting better, Steve. Continue the improvement.
I know, You're a big dog and I'm on the list.

It'll be fine once the swelling goes down.
Hang in there Steve, you'll be back on your game in no time.
