Cigar Brands "Growing The Beard"

YaksterYakster Posts: 25,715 ✭✭✭✭✭

I just discovered that the TV Trope that's opposite of "jumping the shark" (going downhill, like when Fonzie jumped the shark on water skis) is called "growing the beard" (when Riker grew a beard on Star Trek: Next Generation).

My question is, what cigar brands have been "growing the beard" lately for you?

Have to agree. Anything coming out of tabacalera Pichardo lately has been a hit. I’ve always been a fan of the Eiroa family. Warped has definitely been pumping out the hits too. I’ll have to add Foundation.

Is this downhill or uphill? I always thought Jumping the Shark meant past their prime and heading downhill.

    If so, Viaje and Warped

@rsherman24 you are correct..that’s what it means. He’s asking for the opposite term which seems to be “growing the beard”.

Gotcha, I missed "opposite" in the question.

    Pichardo, Aladino, Dapper

Let me throw one out that may not be obvious.

Punch has pretty cool stuff over the last few years. We all know about the bento box and the 3 limited production offerings in there. Also have some other cool stuff too, like the bareknuckle. They are sort of like the fun uncle at the old fogey family reunion.

Maybe JFR also? Forget about the donkey dìcks, I have some regular sized offerings that I thought were pretty good lately

HVC, Growing the Beard or just coasting? I think they're growing the beard.

Ferio Tego (Nat Sherman successor) just starting out, I hope they're Growing the Beard. They seem to have built a solid foundation.

Hvc has put out some great stuff, surprised the hell out of me how good they are.

It's good to see, not so long ago the brands were all waiting to see what was up with the FDA and not bringing much new to market.
