My Father 10th Anniversary Limited Edition 2018
My first real post here; I figured I'd try to write something worth reading. After a 16 hour shift helping other people breath in this pandemic (Respiratory Therapist), I wanted to get home and enjoy my own breathing treatment
I've enjoyed a lot of My Father cigars over the years. This is my first of this specific line. At $24, it's not a treat I'll regularly partake of andI probably wont seek this specific one out again. Not impressed at this price but I admire its balance.
As expected for a limited edition upper tier stick from G&G, I find the construction and draw on this one sample spot-on perfect. Licking the glass-smooth cap before a simple straight cut puts a peppery mushroomy earthy kick that quickly spreads thru the whole front of my mouth. Almost tingly like Szechuan pepper.
Lighting up and working thru the first quarter shows a relatively tame, balanced and sweet pepper. Nothing at all complex, it's subtle and creamy. Smoke production is on the low side. Fragrance of the smoke floating around is earthy, dusty bookstore paper.
Moving past the first third, so far the main shift is a soft, slightly hazelnut/Chambord and a twinge sour. The last 2/3rds are lackluster and boring, without improving, so there isn't anything else to elaborate on.
I think I needed this nicotine tonight and this one is hitting me a bit harder than expected. Hard pass otherwise.
I definitely enjoyed the Judge and Le Bijou better. I like 'em strong and this guy just isn't there for me.
