One more rodeo, Livingston Montana, May 9.
Headed to Livingston probably at the end of July. We'll probably spend a few days at Yellowstone, a day or so in Dillon and Livingston and the about a week in Billings.
Thing about being natuve from the Flathead area, you end up with tons of family all over Montana. 🤣
In Fumo Pax Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy cigars and that's close enough.
So next Friday is the big day.
I will empty 5 tons of tools out of my service truck this weekend and when I leave work next Friday, it will be the last time I leave there an employee.
I'm excited and terrified, at the same time. LOL!
I will miss this truck.
But I bought this one to haul all our stuff to where ever we end up. LOL!

If you have time while in Livingston I would enjoy having a smoke with you.

I'll message you when we plan on getting there.

I’m figuring on 5-7 years. 🤞
My house is only a few years from being paid off. We’re about ready to downsize the house with a smaller yard. Getting too old and too lazy to keep it up. Also considering moving out of the US to someplace where our money will go farther and it stays a nice moderate temp. Lots of pros and cons with that idea though. We’re just both sick of snow.
Went to unload my service truck today.
Full pick up load ot fools and I think I made a slight dent in the tools I need to bring home. Over 3/4 of the tools are still to go.
This ought to be fun.

Just got my pension amount finalized.
My pension will be $2700/month.
Not great, but not terrible.
I took a hit on the amount, because it is set up that if I die, my wife gets payments for about 5 years.
I just got offered a job at Pepsi as their Senior Fleet Tech, starting at $25/ hour, more if I bring my certifications in.
But my pension and pay from Pepsi combined will be around $6400/ month.
Which I can't complain about.
Not real happy that I have to go back to work, but once we have property and things squared away, then I can go back to being retired.

Tony, my pension is about one-fifth of that, so you don't have much to complain about. Nevertheless, I'm grateful that I have more than enough income and unless the whole world goes ****-up I'll never run out of money. My philosophy for the last decade is that I'd rather be poor than go back into the rat race and work.
I'll never retire. I just go up to my studio where all my toys are and play. My other half is a potter with her own studio. We both have been making stuff our whole lives. It is our cultural identity.
I told them at Pepsi, that I take time off for my grandkids events at school, for family events and if someone yells at me at work.
And I make no excuses for any of it.
They still want to hire me. 😲

Not sure if they are union or not.
I made it clear, I'm taking the job for extra money. If it interferes with my family time, I'll have to re-assess that.
They've been looking for mechanics for at least 6 months. So they seem open to work arounds.

The ones here are purchased.
Right now, they are 2019, 2020 and 2021, so I shouldn't have to do much to them.
Preventive maintenance and when they actually break them.
One reason I went ahead and accepted the offer.
I would imagine, in the long run, leasing is cheaper.
But besides the trucks, forklifts, telehandlers and things like that will still break.

The Tennessee guys all need to get together. Maybe late spring?
If things go well, we're hoping we'll find the property we want around Lexington/Jackson area.
Peterbilt might not be happy that I'm jumping ship and going to Pepsi, but the money is better and I'm a fleet mechanic.
It takes a different kind of tech to be a retail/dealer tech.
Dealing with customers is not my idea of fun.

Got my first pension check.
Combined with my check from Peterbilt, will be $5500/month.
It will increase by at least $1500/ month with Pepsi. Which I start January 3rd.
Gotta get all my tools out of the semi. LOL!
Hopefully a couple years, I can get things paid off and then between my pension and Social, gross 4500/month. We should do pretty well with that.

I hope things go well for you and your family.

Snow is a lot less of a PITA if you can decide if and when you should deal with it once you're retired.

Maybe you can talk them into letting you drive the work truck home so you can unload everything there.
Problem is, the truck won't fit in my driveway.
It will barely fit down my road to my house.
But I might have to do that Monday.

I pulled the plug Friday and filed for retirement.

Congrats, Randy!
Glad you found something, wish it payed better. Heard the other day, a local plant that is expanding, is hiring at 25.
Don't let the wife know what you spend on guns, ammo or cigars.

I don’t know about there, but here Pepsi is union and they’re the worst crybabies around. So they’re used to it 😂

Pepsi here also leases all of their trucks used for delivery. I guess the cost is less than ownership and maintenance.

That sounds like a great idea.

Got my first ssa payment yesterday, it was timely as I haven't drawn a paycheck since early Sept.
I found out yesterday I'm getting a $180/mo. raise come January. You too, Randy?
My notifications said mine was going up with December’s payment? I’ll find out for sure on the 21st. Plus saving 5 dollars on Medicare!
Got my first pension check.
