Hobbes86's "Guess the Amount of Pex Used Contest"...Contest

Hobbes86Hobbes86 Posts: 3,165 ✭✭✭✭✭

I recently replaced all the galvanized steel piping in my house with Pex B. I have an upstairs bathroom with a toilet, sink, and shower. A downstairs bathroom with a toilet and a sink. Then there's the kitchen sink, boiler, water heater, softener, outdoor spigot, basement spigot, and washing machine. My house is roughly 1,250 square feet.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to guess how much linear feet of pex was used overall, as well as guess the length of both red and blue pex used.

Sample: Overall length 1,003,658 ft, red 1,002,658 ft, blue 1,000 ft.

There will be three prizes. One for the closest overall length, one for the red, and one for the blue. Three chances to win! I don't care if you go over. Simply the closest guess wins. If two people are the same distance away, they will both get a prize.

Prizes will be cigars from the "quality smokes" bag from my pass, plus a few others I'll throw in.

I will leave guessing open for a week. Enjoy!

For starters Edward, the sum of the Red and Blue should equal the overall. ;)

I figured leftover footage and mis-measurement but maybe he's not counting that, dunno.

I'm sorry Edward, I didn't think to specify. I am counting only the pex in use. Not off-cuts or mismeasurements.

Thank you, Rodger. No leaks, and we are enjoying the efficiency of the new system.

Did you measure between the fittings or what's also inside the fittings?
