Career Paths
On another forum I frequent, someone started a thread about career paths, to find out what everyone does to support their hobbies. It has been interesting, so I stole the idea.
Here's mine:
Started out cooking breakfast and lunch, then dinner, and went to the Culinary Institute of America until my seafood allergy got in the way. Then I started remodeling and residential construction, and building log homes. Switched to CAD drafting for about 20 years for machine builders and mechanical engineers, then in 2015 went to school to transition into Architectural Technology. Worked for 7 years for architectural firms focusing on school design, and just recently started with a residential development firm in Lancaster, with developments in central PA and the Pittsburgh area.
What's your career summary?

Pretty cool, @TRayB, bad ass skill being able to design stuff.
I began by learning to be an industrial and diesel mechanic. Went to work for the oil field for 7 years then decided the United States Coast Guard was a better fit. Twenty years, three ships, one instructor posit, and an augmentation team later and now I herd cats who fix electronics for them. Fingers crossed they assign me to inspecting things in a couple of years.

I did computer repair for years just out of high school. Eventually it got to where every kid out of school had more knowledge then me, so I moved to culinary. Graduated Le Cordon Bleu and got a job as a Sushi Chef working for Guy Fieri. In 2009 when the recession hit I found chefs with 20+ years of experience fighting for entry level positions, so I moved into logistics. Starting with warehousing I worked my way into middle management, and now I work for our corporate team as a trainer, and get shipped around the nation every time we do an acquisition so I can learn their system, them help them transition to ours.
At any given time the urge to sing "In The Jungle" is just a whim away... A whim away... A whim away...
If you worked for Guy Fieri, you can teach @Patrickbrick a few things at the Milwaukee herf

I've cooked with Patrick a time or two. The only critique I've ever had was his pork chops were a bit overdone.... (They were perfect)

I’ve done so much for so long with so little, that now I can accomplish virtually anything, with practically nothing.
So I retired.
