There is footage of a house being washed away in his township of Newland so, even though he is at a higher elevation, he likely without power. Just concerned for his well-being.

Damn! The power of nature can be pretty scary sometimes.

Rodger is probably building a house to replace the one washed away.
Been checking every day to see if he's been active. No power or cell service in his area.
Rodger is a tough old bird. He'll make it through ok.

@First_Warrior
Roger, please check in.
Your botl are concerned.
Well Im still alive but Helene was a ball busting brassplated BITC H. Lots of trees uprooted and mixed with broken powerpoles and lines. Roads are cut by landslides or if near a creek the roads are undermined. In the woods I saw four uprooted trees in a line the first one knocked out the next and so on and on 70 ft trees. We lucked out and although we lost the tops of big five trees nothing hit a building. No power for six days and using 5gal buckets filled at a stream to flush.
Had to grind some of Peter's famous beans in a motar and pestle, crank up a propane stove for water and hunt a cigar with a headlamp. The fairgrounds are being used as a staging area to send out rescuers. Lots of helos landing some bringing in bodies. Folks from all over the country are helping us out even though some are Yankees.
Will have plenty of firewood.
Thanks for the kind thoughts fellas.
Glad to hear you're OK Rodger!
Good to hear from you. We went through the same thing here a couple years ago. I figure a lesser man wouldn’t know how to handle such a thing. Glad you and yours are well.
Let us know what we can do now and in the future.
Thanks for letting us know you are ok, Rodger.
Happy to see you are good, Roger.

It'll be fine once the swelling goes down.
Good to know old Mother Nature can’t take down a seasoned warrior. Glad all is well.
A good cigar and whiskey solve most problems.
Thanks for the kind words guys. Even with all the destruction the NC mountains are still a beautiful place to live.
Great to hear from you Rodger.
Maybe we should all start a ham radio club. Seems like this has happened before where we wanted to make contact with a fellow forum member and due to power outages we could not. I assume you can run Ham Radio on 12 volt power or a small generator.
