Homemade Tobacco Mixes or Blends

Ok I know some of you guys, maybe all, have mentioned a time or two that you mixed ‘this with that’ and a little bit of this regarding different tobacco concoctions. If it’s not too much of a tedious task, I’d like to hear about your experiences with various blends you’ve tried. Perhaps even, something worth reading about the process.

It all will come down to your taste and preferences. That said, I find it fun.
Yesterday I smoked a 50/50 mixture of Squadron Leader and Captain Black Royal. This may seem a strange combo, but, it actually worked rather well for me. Why? Why would I do this? Well, I like the Squadron Leader, but it has a bit of a bite, and it dries out very quickly. I like the C.B. Royal, but I'm not much of an aromatic guy, it's a little overwhelming there, and whatever they add to keep the moisture going never lets up. The Royal mellows out the bite of the S.L., the S.L. dries out the Royal, the two different styles didn't clash as much as I feared they might, pretty good smoke in the end.
Most of my mixtures were done in an attempt to replicate the now defunct McClelland Dark English. That and the Capt. Black Royal were my 2 tobaccos. I rarely ventured into other arenas, because I was happy right there.
I also only had about 2 pipes.
Beware the rabbit hole.

@Amos_Umwhat thanks for the reply. Makes sense. I’d really appreciate it if you could show me your pipe, front row, 4th from left according to your picture. I’m hoping it’s an acorn 🤙🏼

This one? Peterson System shape 303 (I think). It's a great pipe!

@Amos_Umwhat beautiful pipe but that’s not the one. It’s the brown rusticated and fancy bent stem.
