Tyson Fight Results…gimmick or realistic?

Living a fast and hard life added heavily to Tyson age and performance. I had only high hopes to see small glimpses reminiscent of a young Tyson executing boxing finesse of days past. But alas, seemed gimmicky at best. A proud, aged fighter like Tyson, with his pedigree, would not let his age, injuries or any shortcomings get in his way of concluding business as usual in the ring. IMHO

I had no interest in this. 27 vs 58? Gimmick maximum. I didn't watch. I read a short summary this morning. I estimate the biggest interest in this was emotional from people wanting the aging ledged to beat the younger guy.

100%. Like I said, previously, I was hoping for glimpses of greatness past.

I watched for the reasons that bob mentioned above.

Answer to your question is part gimmick part fake. The first round was legit for the first 90 seconds. Then Tyson's body quit and Paul spent the rest of the fight keeping iron Mike upright. He almost fuçked it up twice with a couple of straight lefts that had Tyson stumbling.

Glad I watched and glad it was free.

Sounds like it was exactly what I was expecting. I canceled Netflix recently to trim the fat and there's no chance I was going to resubscribe for this. Didn't even feel the need to sail the seven seas to find it 🏴‍☠️

I'll say that I thought that Paul would win before the fight started and handily. What I was really looking forward to what's that super intimidating Mike Tyson walking out of the tunnel to his music in the plain T-shirt and intimidating the **** out of the entire crowd.

When I saw that guy who used to be Mike Tyson walk out of the tunnel in his old man body with the heavy top and the skinny legs and the knee brace, I knew it was completely over and there was no chance it was going to be a good fight.

Still, the undercard was pretty good. The first fight was sloppy AF, and included a dry hump in the corner which was stupid and over the top. The second fight was pretty good in the third fight between the women was a super good fight with a totally fixed outcome that reminded me of my younger days being a boxing fan. So overall, it was a pretty good event for my $12 subscription fee.

Either of those women would have been trouble for JP 😝. And yes it was fixed in the end…unanimous decision…total bull$hit. I did have a hard time believing with my own eyes ‘intentional head butting’ within the rules of boxing. Also, I didn’t agree with the point reduction. Both fighters standing toe to toe, feinting and slipping, aggressive moves forward…bound to happen. IMHO

Faye asked me if I was going to watch it. I said no. She asked why was Tyson doing it? I suppose for money. I told her that sometimes there's what's known as an "Exhibition Match". Boxers are known for making and losing huge sums of money.

Speaking of exhibitions match. Did anybody see the entertaining sidebar interview of Shaq and Gronk where they announced they would, jokingly, do a celebrity boxing match between basketball and football players. I thought it was amusing.

I saw a video on fb that I'll have to look for on another platform so I can share it here. Tyson got in a couple really solid shots and Joke got him in a clinch and may have said something to him because it sure looked like Mike was pulling some punches after that.
"Remember Mike, you're getting 20M to lose. Please don't kill me" or something like that maybe.

Colleen asked me what I thought the week before. I told her it’s fake, bet the Vegas favorite and the distance. If you didn’t know this was rigged, that’s on you. We’ve seen this bullshit several times now.
