    Likely carbon monoxide. If you have older style smoke alarms you can pick up portable carbon monoxide detectors for a couple of bucks. It's definitely worth have them by your furnace and any gas appliances, because without it you'll likely be dead before you know it's an issue.

    That was my first thought too, but this a.m.'s news says it's been ruled out. One of my all time favorite actors, made the characters come to life in a way that many actors cannot.

    They said it wasn't immediately apparent. A backdraft with a faulty furnace could fill the house with co then clear out minutes later

    Didn't the dog die as well? Did he commit suicide too?

    One of the dogs was locked in a crate, the one that died. The other two dogs were free enough to probably scavenge for water, etc.
