    You make very good points:
    For total transparency:
    1. This has been approved by CfW. You can find it one their social media.
    2. The "portion" is $10. While that is not a great donation, Club Macanudo gave as an all in price of $175. I wanted to make the ticked price $190, but my fear is even $185 will be a stretch to reach forty attending to trigger the $175 price.
    3. The "donation required" to enter the raffle will go to CfW

I hope this clears up our intent. We are most certainly not doing it for a payday.

Thanks for helping to make this clearer.

So, $185 for the ticket plus “cigar donation required for entry”?
I’m sure we all here agree that Cigars For Warriors is a great organization. We’ve given to it many times. My question is the “portion donated to Cigars for Warriors “. What kind of portion? And yes, it’s still spam and not the best way to jump into the forum.

Just to repeat. Please see below:

Clear someone is benefitting but it's not the Warriors.

Don't let the wife know what you spend on guns, ammo or cigars.

I read some of the more negative comments about this event. I guess all I'll say is that this kind of leather and mahogany event isn't my kind of deal, but New York City isn't my kind of place.

I suppose that if it raises money for a charity, then good with it.

@ScotchnSmoke sux lots of large wéiners. And tons of small ones.

    Thank you for posting this.

For further b.g. in 2023 my Facebook Group did a Cfw drive that went so well, I decided to try something more ambitious.

If you don't believe me, I will gladly show you the agreement with Club Macanudo and the price per person.

As further background, my Facebook Group had a CfW stick drive in 2023 that went so well I decided to try this.

I hope this clears up the intimations of profiteering in your OP.

My suggestion would be to have a box for donations, or another easy way to donate at the event. I'd also think the attendees should know how much of their ticket price is going to CfW. NYC is no doubt an expensive place to hold such an event. People attending may have a good idea of the cost of the food and venue rental. Still, if they understood only $10 of the price is going to CfW, they either would've wished they'd stayed away, or better yet, open their wallets to actually give something meaningful.

Yeah buddy I get it man. The part that is not my cup of tea is the club macanudo part.

About the part you added $10 to the vig for the donation, you do you bro. I said I didn't mind because you were doing something for a good cause. Don't be so defensive and have fun and raise money.

_And I mean you know you did breach etiquette by coming in here and pimpíng your event right? I mean it's a good event and nobody is against it, but it is still a breach of protocol come to a community post your fukking advertisement without paying the hosts of this forum for that advertisement, and then defending your actions with everyone who called you out..... Charity or not._

Good for cigars for warriors, good for you, have fun, but if you're not going to be part of the community then you're not going to be part of the community and you can leave. If you are going to be part of the community, welcome.

    That is all.

Advertising is by definition to raise awareness of a product to sell for profit, which this is not. It's the reason I use the word "flyer". I choose my words carefully.

It's not a "vig", which is by definition a loan shark's vigorish. It is a donation.

As to "pimping" my event, I'm sorry of it seemed that way, it was not my intent.

The reason I included the footnote to the flyer and what lead up to it is because I wanted to be clear; some in the community thought it was for profit. The lack of clarity was my fault. My explanation was not me being offended, defensive or [insert your adjective of choice].

I agree with your that is all with sine die and wishes for a smoky weekend.

Thanks you, Peter. This is something with which I have been wrestling in my group. People are skeptical by nature. In the FB cigar communities that I have been posting, I first made the admins aware of the cost breakdown.

As I and they post more, I will post exactly the cost, since many may think this is the typical event where 250K is raised with a whopping 2.5K going to the charity.

The donation box is what the raffle is for. In order to enter to win the prizes, those attending need to bring sticks. I hope that is clear from the flyer. If not, I can make a change. I was also going to pitch them to crack open their checkbooks at the event.

I want to again thank you so much for this thoughtful and helpful feedback.

    Wishes for a smoky weekend!

This is something you don’t want to start…especially with him. For all our sakes let it go.

It was improper etiquette to come into a community and first thing promote an event. No matter the cause. We welcome people that wish to actually be a part of the community. Not so much those that wish to use it as a way to promote or “pimp” their events, websites, or the like.

Well, I'm definitely out. $185 on that dinner, absolutely not. Especially seeing that CFW is getting 10 bucks per entry, nope! This looks like an apparent cash grab by FriendsOfClubMac and Club Macadodo disguised by a charitable event for CFW. If this were a charitable event, much more would be going to Cigars for Warriors then would be to you.

Also noticed that big name reputable companies aren't part of this. I wonder why…………

Are you saying that this cigar club will not be profiting from the event? Club Macanudo will be making a profit if this goes well. You personally may not be, but they will be, therefore you are advertising for them. Many of us in here dislike this elitist $200 dinner type of culture that tends to surround cigar smoking at times. Good luck with your event, I hope you get thousands of cigars to send off, please leave us alone.

How insecure must you and prejudice too, "elitist $200 dinner type of culture that tends to surround cigar smoking at times." How do yo know this? Absence of evidence, doesn't mean evidence of absence.

I will give you this, at least you're able to spell correctly and write somewhat correctly, putting you ahead of most of these posters.

You quote me: "Advertising is by definition to raise awareness of a product to sell for profit, which this is not." The product is the dinner, not Club Macanudo. You would be able to manage this simple deductive reasoning had your cracked 1100 on your SAT.

I'd also truly like to know what you plan to accomplish with these posts? You know of course that this forum is pull marketing for the cigar vendor in which it is nested. Do you work for them? Are you a stakeholder. Is that why you post for engagement to increase the search ranking?

Good luck to you, which I tender with the same sincerity that you did to me for my event.
