Recommendations on YouTube channels with good history telling or ancient war/battle stories. I recommend “History Dose” they tells stories really well and have great artwork. Also “History Marche” and “Kings and Generals”

I've caught a few interesting short videos that map out a long battle but show it as a time lapse evolution with casualty/prisoner counts and changing battlefield positioning throughout the battle.

Given my experience with war I tend to avoid it.

I don’t think anyone who has experienced war, whether in the field or not, could do justice, on a personal level, explain what the five senses and the MEPs (mental, emotional, physical) engage in, process and endure, in the moment, daily and after to adequately convey these to a non veteran.

    Thank you, Rodger.

As a veteran myself, now working as a paramedic in one of the highest crime cities in the US, you would be suprised how many non veterans experience those emotions. Especially in low income areas, I think its an overlooked issue as to why those areas stay so bad.

Yeah i really like those mapped out tactic videos, seeing the way they move troops on the battlefield, motivated me to buy all of the “total war” computer games.

Fight I had for years. As a teacher we had countless workshops about the brain, behavior , and so on. For about 10 year they filled my room with kids going in and out of JJC, last half a dozen years were at Children's Services for kids that couldn't be placed in a public or or private school.

That being said, Im sure there is some good from watching historical material about war. Each must decide . Matter of fact , it may be a positive thing for some folks to view.

Anyway, back to your point. Many of these issues are the same for vets and civilians. TY

Guys my point was specifically, about war.

However, veering off my topic and cherry picking sub topics from my statement, I agree with you and I will use PTSD as an example, that people engaged, past or present, with mental, emotional and physical trauma can experience similar symptoms.

I was talking about military engagements, specifically, war experiences and trying to explain what that was like to someone who did not participate in aforementioned.

    Carry on.

I understood what you were saying, i just know as veterans its easy to take our experiences and feel separated from society, but over time ive found many of my experiences relate very well with people in the civilian world. I wasnt trying to be a pain or anything, i was just sharing. To be clear though this post IS primarily about channels involving pre modern warfare.

Once again, not to be a ****, but you are missing my point. Also, it’s worth mentioning, that if you knew the history behind @First_Warrior and have read his book, you might understand my comment. You are correct about topic of OP.

Carrying on with the theme of this thread I will add my son grew up watching the military channel from a young age. It was one of many factors that led to his joining the military.

Since when does anything stay on channel around here? It was a reply to someone he directly quoted. To me that usually means his comment is for them. Which it was. It wasn’t for an argument. So why the need to try to prove someone wrong about something?

If it don’t bother me, it don’t bother me. Just leave me alone.

I mean, guy posts a topic, second guy makes a remark about how he's not interested in the topic because of his personal experiences, then you Branch off from there, and then get mad/annoyed/parochial when he rebranches off from yours.

We are inventing new ways of being argumentative here. Saying that the original poster is veering off of your topic and cherry picking subtopics to talk about when it was his topic in the first place bro.... And you branched off of his right? Am I fucçking going crazy here?
