Uploading Images--File Size Test

This is a test to see if there is a file size limit when uploading images from my PC.

First a 235 kb JPG file, success.

Now a 1 Mb JPG file, Success

Next a 2 Mb JPG file, success

Now a 5 Mb PNG file, success

Finally a 545 kb PNG that didn't upload the other day. It still fails to upload. This was a screenshot of the Daily Deal. I had to save it in JPG format to upload it.

This testing didn't tell me much, the dummy PNG files may not have all that much graphic information in them, just artificially manipulated to save as a 1 Mb, 2 Mb, etc. file so it may not be a fair test.

My phone takes 50 and 12 megapixel photos. I only use the 12mp.

I was unable to upload the photo from my Android this morning, it's definitely not a file size issue, I compressed this down and resized this to 300 kB and 768 x 1024, I tried DuckDuckGo and Chrome browsers, force stopped the browsers, closed the pages, cleared the cache, and even restarted my phone and no joy. I sent the photo to my laptop and cut and pasted it into my Brave browser and had no problems. Strange. Seems random.

I'm able to upload the file as well from my PC browser, just not from my Android right now. I checked the file size on my PC and it shows 45 kB while it shows 300 kB on my phone, strange.

Taking this a step further, I was using messenger to sent the photo from the phone to the PC and I decided to download the photo from messenger back to the phone, 88 kB and it uploads just fine from my phone, but the 300 kB original image that I had compressed like I always do with Photo Compress Puma still won't load. Doesn't like something about that original compressed image. (scratching head)

I played with it and it does seem random because I have taken multiple pics of something.. Then only some will load and other won't . So I'm lost

I made a copy of the original compressed image on my phone and it remained at 300 kB. Next time I have a picture fail to upload I'll try just sending it to myself in Messenger and downloading it again and try that downloaded and probably smaller image.

If I knew how to cut and paste the image instead of uploading it from my phone I'd try that too.

It is odd, noticed this a few days ago where if I take a picture then try to upload it sometimes will fail. Several times in a row.

If I select use camera instead it loads the image.

Obviously this is sabotage by @silvermouse

This morning I took a picture of my pipe smoke, edited the picture, and then compressed the photo so that it would load faster. This particular compressed image failed to load. Something about the file the forum didn't like.

Yesterday I found an app for my Android that would let me copy an image to the clipboard by sending photos to the app. I tried copy/paste this compressed image, still didn't like it.

I decided to try uploading the edited image, before I'd compressed it, it uploaded fine, even though it's a larger, higher resolution image. (Scratches head)

I've changed my modus operandi, now I try uploading edited images, if that failes I compress it and it usually uploads fine.

When I screenshot the Daily Deal I try to paste the image, if that fails I just grab another screenshot and it usually works.

Why edit them or compress them? Honestly I don’t know. I just take a picture and post it and it works. Maybe the altering is somehow causing the problem?

I edit them to make them look better, correct some of my mistakes taking the picture. I compress them to make them take less space and load faster, old habit. Since screenshots of the daily deal sometimes fail, I don't think it's the editing that's causing a problem. I've even tried taking a photo from the site instead of uploading an image and had that fail.

Tha forum's just **** up right now. Maybe they'll fix the bugs, maybe they wont. We don't know because they haven't found a suitable replacement for @TheCigarChick .

Chris @Yakster , I just had a failed upload of a pic, which was .png format. I saved it as .jpeg and it uploaded.

@ShawnOL - I saw your message and I went into the back end of the Forum and I can confirm there are no dimensions restrictions to files for upload. (There's an option, but it's unchecked in any place where it could be checked.) Are things still buggy, or have they gotten better?

This goes for anyone here, but if you can give me specific instances where aspects of the Forum seem abnormal, please let me know so I can tell the folks responsible for the site.

The biggest issue I’ve seen is everything jumping straight to the bottom of the page instead of the last post.
