Is there any way to buy materials to roll your own premiums?

For a long time now I have wanted to roll my own cigars with CT shade and Dominican or Nicaraguan binder/fillers. Is there any place I can order premium tobaccos from so that i can try my hand at this?

Backwoods.... even though they are purty tasteee
  • A cigar made with pipe tobacco ain't a cigar. It's a smokable pipe?? I have an idea! Instead of rolling a cigar with pipe tobacco, you could smoke a pipe! I know it is a radical thought ;) but I do agree it would be pretty badass to show up at a herf with cigars you rolled yourself! And it would be interesting experimenting with different blends.

I'm not talking the confetti that is pipe tobacco i'm talking the leafs they use for the blends.

I think I get what you are saying. You are looking for the tobacco leaves for pipe tobacco blends before they are cut.

What kinds of pipe tobacco do you enjoy?

I'll log it in my "tobacco" homework and see what I can dig up, as I would also be interested in finding out about how to recreate pipe tobaccos for a cigar.

Yeah I think I caused some confusion there by saying leaves instead of leafs.

As far as what type of pipe tobacco I like I can't be sure as I've just become of Brother of the Briar.
    Kinda new to the sport.

No, you won't find any top grade leaves for DIY peeps. There are sites that sell it, but it's the same stuff small shops can get. The stuff the premium people have already passed on and sold.

Yeah, the owner of one of my local B&Ms rolls cigars and he has to travel all over the tropics to get his rolling tobacco, including Honduras, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Brazil, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and even Africa. As a matter of fact, I was in the shop a couple weeks ago and his friend was running the shop and told me he was away on a trip to meet in person with Nestor Placencia in Esteli for a bulk buy.

all of those links were already in my favorites. thats great.

i was pretty much gunna say that you can find the tools, the hard part is the tobacco. however, tobacco grows in many climates. all you have to do is find the seeds. and that isnt all that hard or expensive.

    Hey guys,

I know this is an old thread, so sorry to re-open, but you should check out www.leafonly.com.

It's a relatively new business, but I have heard nothing but great things so far!!
