So Where Is The CSPAN Coverage?

So where is this CSPAN coverage? The Clinton's made a mistake of taking it behind closed doors? Input from the public? Input from some Reps and Senators weren't even taken into consideration. Transparent and accountable. lol

Lamb's letter was addressed to congressional leaders -- not the president. It does mention that Obama and congressional leaders have "all talked about the value of transparent discussions on reforming the nation’s health care system."

Updated at 12:04 p.m. ET. C-SPAN posted a copy of Lamb's letter on its health care website.

Update, 3:34 p.m. ET: Rep Joe Wilson, R-S.C., of "You lie" fame, is urging House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., to accept C-SPAN's "generous offer." Here's what Wilson had to say in a just-released statement:

I applaud C-SPAN’s letter to congressional leaders asking that all future health care negotiations be open to the public through media coverage. I hope Speaker Pelosi gives the American people a seat at the negotiation tables by accepting C-SPAN’s generous offer to cover such discussions.
During his campaign, President Obama promised voters that health care discussions would be televised live. Congressional leaders should help the President keep this important promise and put a stop to secret backroom talks that have been a part of Washington’s way of doing business for entirely too long.

Updated at 5:21 p.m. ET. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi won't say if she wants to open the health care negotiations to C-SPAN, but she did defend the process to date as open and transparent.

At an afternoon press conference today, Pelosi said "there has never been a more open process for any legislation in anyone who serves here's experience." For example, she pointed out that "tens of thousands of people participated in our town meetings" and that there were "over a hundred witnesses in our bipartisan hearings."

Meanwhile, Patients First, a group that opposes the Democratic health care plan, says it will start a website tomorrow called www.letthecamerasin.com.

Updated at 5:49 p.m. ET. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid also weighed in on the C-SPAN challenge. Reid spokesman Jim Manley said the senator "appreciates C-SPAN's commitment to ensuring transparency." Then he went on to pretty much say: thanks, but no thanks, blamed the Republicans for obstructing the process, and promised to "continue to ensure that the Congress and the public will have ample opportunity to see and evaluate health insurance reform legislation before it moves to final passage.”

I really loath most of those idiots in Washington.

The Nixon administration had more transparency than these clowns.
