Look, Jim's kind of an idiot, but I hate these things that demean college. There's a place for all vocations.
There's plenty of idiots on all parts of the vocational spectrum. And good people.
I agree to a point, I see way more kids going to college for stupid stuff and are surprised that they can't get a job or are making no money than tradesmen doing stupid stuff like falling off a pole."We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give". Winston Churchill.

I went into a trade, had no debt for schooling and now make as much as a lot of people with degrees.
I'm not saying that college is a waste, but a degree in philosophy?
What are you going to use that for?
I've seen literally dozens of people with degrees in IT or computer stuff, that can't find jobs right now, while the mechanic, truck and trades like electricians and construction are screaming for qualified people.
Currently, for every 10 mechanics who retire in the US, there is only 1 person coming into the trade.
Tons of heavy truck and equipment dealers are "under filling" the positions that come open, because they can't get qualified people.
Most are taking apprentices directly out of trade schools to get the positions filled.
It isn't unheard of heavy equipment mechanics making $75-125k/year and more right now.In Fumo Pax
