Smoke Room

Hey everyone! I am in the process of designing my "dream" home that I will build someday and have decided I would like to have a smoke room either attached or detached with a breezeway from the house. I was curious as to whether anyone has one or a "man-cave", something of the nature where one can relax and enjoy a cigar with the guys or whatnot. If so, any pictures of them would be helpful!

Also any specific requirements that would go into a smokeroom, i.e. ventilation, air circulation, etc. would be appreciated!

A good source reference the ventilation would be your local B&M. Also, based on a friend's experience, if you are married, etc, it may be best to refer to it as a bonus room or play room.

Looks a little small and no TV or stereo as of yet. I wouldn't complane if it was actually in my basement as it is a nice setup.

I'm so far north that the video for that man cave says it won't play in my area! lol. My "man cave" is a garage that was built about 60 years ago. The previonusn nn nn owner had hydro set up in it and I can run lights, a radio and 2 parabolic heater.

Pardon the typos, my pet bird is hellsping me type this. He thinks it's his keyboard.

You'd probably be best served talking to an HVAC contractor to get some insight as how best to handle ventilation.

my smoke room, ( the Qtr.Deck ) is a 10x12 lawn building, , 5 tons of crushed lime stone went on the grass, then the treated 4x4's went on, the 3/4 plywoodfloor went on , then the walls went up 2x4 's 16 inch on center, a top rail at 7'6", and 2x4 truss system on top, a skin of 1/2 inch plywood tarpaper & shinles , the door is a double wide 60 inch s.o.b. with a window on each end & 3 accross the bacl, ( hind site tells me there are 3 windows too many ) , the room was wired with a 50amp breaker box & we used #8 direct bury line from the meter to the base of the building, a hole was drilled in the floor & the wire pulled in & set to the box, R32 went in the side walls & ceiling, covered in cheep panneling, 7 Bucks a sheet at Home depot , a covering of tyvack went up before the paneling & it went on the floor before the 1/2 inch foam pad went down & a carpet rement went in on top, the couch, chair , rocking chair , along with a few endtables went in along with the 220V base board heat & the window A/c unit , a bathroom exaust fan was fitted in the rafters to vent the place when the heat was on or the a/c. , in the spring & fall I just open the doors or a window ... there is a phone & an intercalm , a CD player ,bookrack & computer with yfy, but I have found I dont use the computer much at all, music is the main enternaiment after the cigars & scotch, No humidor in the Qtr.deck as it is not heated all the time , no reason to keep it warm when i am not home , it gets plenty of use, my wife will turn on the heat when I call he from work & by the time I have finished eating, its warm & ready to go, pour a scotch, brew a pot of coffee & raid the humidor in my room, .... she goes to bible study every Tuesday night , I smoke cigars with anyone who shows up...... BYO beer... I will provide the coffee & scotch..... , if dont dont want to listen to jazz or classical, well your SOL !hahaha call for direction if you need them, Enjoy, Vince

My entire house is my man cave. Being single sucks sometimes but has it's benefits as well. I have found that the ionic style air cleaners do a fabulous job pulling crap out of the air, the house does not smell like a smoking lounge.

I have two of the ionic cleaners and they definitely seem to help get rid of the stale cigar smell that shows up the day after you smoke.

Yeah, Ozone Generator is key for a smoke room, unless you like stale monkey butt smell

How many square feet is the house? That place is pretty sweet man. If I was gonna be living in Mountain Home again anytime soon I'd be pretty interested...Might have to come test the stocked pond out though, lol.

The house is about 2600+ square feet. You're always welcome to come help keep down the fish population! Bass, blue gill, bream and catfish. All you can eat (but you have to catch it first). Come by during deer season. The place is in the middle of several hundred acres of woods, so we always limit out on deer tags. I say "we", but I'm not a hunter anymore, but my friends are and they never fail to kill a few every year. Surprisingly, I've seen exactly one turkey here in the last five years. Weird.

I always thought that this guy did a good job at making a smoke room if you didn't want to commit to much space to the cigar lounge.
