    Michael Jackson didn't "invent" the trick. He dusted off an old stage trick that nobody had seen in decades and patented his own mechanical device for a very impressive performance. But the real "trick" was he did it so well and made it so famous that it's considered "his trick" and and people think it's his original idea.
