Day 1 of retirement.
Found out that sleeping in sucks.
My body hated it. Feels like I took punches all night.
How do people do that? :)

Sleeping is over rated Tony, get up and go fix something like you've always done.

Never been to devils tower. Was about an hour away and we weren't on a sightseeing tour. Those are some beautiful pictures. The drive is worth the expense. America has some beautiful scenery.

Get up early and take a nap mid-day

We made it most the way.
Stopping north of Clarksville, TN tonight. Then figuring out what we're gonna do.
We have an offer to run our truck out of Savannah, so we may continue down to Georgia. We might stay the winter in Georgia and run the truck, then look at buying something in Tennessee,

    Not all who wander……are lost.
Sometimes the journey is more valuable than the actual destination.

I got my first SS deposit in July.
I was sort of forced in to early retirement when Covid closed the casino.
My teamsters pension doesn’t start until I’m 65, so the next 3 years are going to be lean. I’m willing and able to work but I really don’t want another “job”.
My wife has 3 years left on her contact with UNM so we will be here getting rid of stuff and fixing the house to sell.
    Blah blah blah…..

Every time someone here in Vegas is farting around on their phone and doesn’t realize the action is on them, I think of you retiring early lol.

Staying few days in a place called Parker Crossroads, TN.
Looking at a place in Camden, TN..
Not holding my breath, as property seems to go quick.
If I can find a place to rent a spot to put my semi trailer, it would help.

It's no doubt regional, but the Fed's rate increase along w/ inflation is slowing down the housing market in some parts. Maybe the demand will slow down and the supply will go up where you're looking.

Found a place to store my semi for $25/month in Gleason, TN.
So one problem taken care of.
Now to get figured out what we are gonna do.
Seems that I have $1100 going out per month and since my pension is the only income they will allow, since my truck is a new business, they won't consider that income, my debt to income ratio is high.

    Never ending merry go round.

This has been the theme from our entertainment industry and other cultural influences for a long time.
Dad is clueless, Mom isn't much better, but she's female, so she must be better somehow. Only the kids know what's really going on. They are the wise ones with understanding.

When one of his shops decided to certify a technician in Kia, Nissan, and Fiat Chrysler repair, he nominated his youngest technician—making an investment in the repair industry’s future.

How to tell a mechanic he's too old without telling him he's too old.

Thank you for applying to our EQUIPMENT FIELD TECHNICIAN position. Although your qualifications and experience are notable, we are moving forward with other candidates whose qualifications moreh closely match our business needs at this time.

Agreed. I'm working now, but some of the jobs I applied for pay way more money.
It just gets irritating to be "over qualified".
Which is short for too old.

Luckily for me my industry is so short of people they’re begging people to come out of retirement. The big outfits are offering upwards of 5-8,0000$ signup bonuses. Depending on which rivers you can run. Just got to stick around for 6 months.

    @Rhamlin
The mechanic industry is having a hard time finding techs.
I never figured my age was gonna be an issue, but clearly I was wrong.
Only Peterbilt seems to think old people are worth hiring.

I'd hire an old-timer just to help impart some wisdom and know-how onto the younger fellas. Lord knows many of us young bucks need it!
