didn't your mama tell you not to touch a hot stove?
My mom likes to tell the story of when I was a little kid and she told me not to touch the hot stove. She told me this and I immediately put my hand up there and touched it, burning my fingers. I jerked my hand back and then reached up and touched it again!

basic neurolinguistic programming. If you tell someone not to do something they are going to want to confirm whether it is true. Kids especially don't hear the "don't" part of the caution and jump immediately to wanting to find out if it is true.
