Actually, it was a better pet than expected. Better than a hamster, for sure. I used to bathe it in the sink with shampoo and conditioner. Also, rats seem to be the cleanest of the rodents. Where mice and hamsters poop everywhere, this rat picked a corner for doing its business and stuck to it. Only had to clean that corner of the cage.
