So, for quite a while I haven't been able to create new folders on my laptop using Windows Explorer. I've had to use the mkdir command from the cmd or powershell to create the folder which is a PITA. I upgraded to Windows 11 recently and still have the same problem, but tonight I finally found the answer, a registry key solved it.

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/create-new-folder-option-disappeared-on-windows-11/58adea3d-136f-4b04-a217-2d3364d03b75

Basically I changed the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\default key value to "Folder" and restarted the computer now it works fine.

Good work! Any idea how the problem occurred in the first place?

No idea, the value of that was some sort of image reference instead of folder.

That would have driven me crazy. I create a lot of new folders. What made you think of checking it out in re-edit? @Yakster

I'd been searching the Internet for solutions on and off for quite a while, I finally found the specific right answer.

Since you create new folders frequently, here's a keyboard shortcut: Simultaneously press Ctrl + Shift + N keys to create a new folder.

Going to a wedding tomorrow. Have to hit the highway at 7:30am. 129 miles each way. Not looking forward to the drive there but less thrilled about the ride home after a couple drinks.

Lol, Shawn. An AA witticism I remember from my time there trying to sober up is " the first drink is too many, the second drink is not enough". I envy the folks that can stop at one or two.

Good! I never succeeded in developing the self-control to do that. I would intend to....

I moved some monitors/TVs around and put an old TV out on the back patio with an old, unused Roku Express and a BT Speaker. The Roku Express is old enough that it doesn't support the Peacock channel, luckily most other channels wor, albeit I'm noticing a lot of buffering on YouTube today.

I have an Xfinity streaming box in the garage that would work if I could find the remote.

Funny how remotes are always somewhere else 🤔
