My neighbors to the south of me have been adding to their landscaping every year, and what started out kinda odd is turning into a nice yard. They ordered a boatload of mulch, and a month ago, they found out how much 4 yards of mulch actually is. They asked if I wanted some for my berms. When Andy said he'd bring it over in his wheelbarrow and spread it for me, too, I gave an enthusiastic thumbs up.
Today, Andy said he was ready to tackle the job. Knocked down the weeds that replaced my 3 year old mulch with a weed whacker, brought over several wheelbarrows, and cleaned up with his leaf blower. I knew he would take any payment, so I offered to put something in their daughter's college fund. He wouldn't hear it and said he was just glad to get rid of the excess mulch. I guess all the times I refrained from grumbling when he wanted to borrow some tools or park his car under my carport when they predicted hail has paid dividends.
Oh yeah, the other highlight of my day was plucking a hair out of the sole of my left foot. Every year or two, I've had a hair under the skin of one of my soles. Until it breaks the surface or gets close enough that I can see it and dig, it feels like a splinter and hurts with each step. This morning, I had had enough and dug it out. In researching it online, they say it's never a hair growing out, and it's always a hair splinter that worked its way in one way or another. It's weird either way, and all I know is that it doesn't hurt when I walk anymore.
We caught up with our kids today, first we had a video call with my daughter in Japan before her Japanese language school, then we ate some Mississippi pork roast I'd defrosted that I made from a pork shoulder, then we caught up with my son in New Zealand after his appointment. I must be a Flat Eather because it seems like they've done gone to the corners of the Earth.
