Personally I own some duponts but also some vectors and just cheap stuff that’s given to me. That being said I do like DuPont a lot and the fact my boss has one that’s older than me without being serviced tells me it’s worth it. I get how people can hate but as mentioned we do buy expensive things people would think are stupid! I buy what I want if I can afford it…I also work for a cigar store so at my price it makes things a tad easier to swallow
I just bought two of these. One to light my Opus and one to light my Davidoff. They came with a warning label that said "Warning! This lighter can not fix the tarring issues associated with Opus X. If used in a social setting, you may be anointed King Dooooshbahg, King of all pretentious A-holes" I would say on the whole, a total win!

Large and cheap. Even if one is DOA the price is right.
Hard to beat cheap Chinese lighters.
Also +1 on bleeding when refilling.
Cleaning with compressed air helps too.
There is a minimal amount of maintenance on lighters

Sometimes I'll clean the jets with a blast of butane from the tip of the refill canister.
This is the way.
I have never tried that, but it makes a lot of sense. I usually just use compressed air, I've used Nitro Solvent on stubborn jets, but I like the butane idea. It would save a lot of time and effort.

Have a brand new xikar single torch that I only filled once. Went to refill it and was doing it one handed. Lighter fell over and something from the bottom, I'm assuming a plastic o-ring, went flying. Couldn't find it. Lighter won't fill now, gas just goes everywhere. Anyone know where I can find a replacement o-ring for it?. I'd really hate to toss it.
Xikar approved my allume lighter, a few months ago. For warranty. I had a crack in the fuel window. So if it's still broken I would just try to fill out their claim application.
I was just in this situation and bought a cheap Palio quad torch instead of blowing money on a high end lighter.. Just take that money and upgrade somewhere else or buy supplies you might need.. Also I learned Eddie Sahakian of Davidoff in London uses Bic lighters with no shame in his game.So the choice is yours..

Guaranteed to light.

In case this was not common knowledge, Xikar was bought out a few years ago.

Well hopefully the cutter I got in eBay will hold up.

Also how its made
Funny how, no matter what ignites the flame, the fuel is more important than then vessel. Sounds like someone making up for a short coming.
The lighters I’ve gotten for free have all performed better and still work.
Thanks for the video. Very interesting.

Cheap lighters ignite a cigar or pipe just like the very expensive ones. If you’re a collector then by all means spend away.

I learned that trick here years ago.
I have a few expensive lighters, but end up grabbing my 8$ lighter more commonly.
I know a couple of heavy hitters on here that light their cigars off of 100 dollar bills when the DuPont just won't do.
Who doesn't use a good Benjamin spill to light a Royal Courtesan?

This one is cool. It's a flat flame. But I tend to grab a cheap torch more often than not.

$7 gold standard 😎
