  Buy the Missouri Meerschaum pipes, not the cob pipes from Asia. They come in filtered and unfiltered, I've only ever tried the unfiltered.

  I guess they have pipes with plaster of Paris coating on the outside, I prefer the natural cob pipes. Pay attention to the sizes.

  Someone else may be able to provide more insights.

  You get what you pay for. A $5 cob is not going to be as well made as a $30 cob. Just a warning. I bought a 4pack of cobs on Amazon for like $10 or so. Came with filters pre-installed. Filters gummed up quickly and after removing the filter and cleaning the stem, each one shattered trying to get the stems back in. Buy a good cob.

  This is my favorite. It is lighter than the other mms since it hasn't been filled, it smokes drier and is cooler in the hand.

  I got this one as my first about a month ago and it’s treated me well. I didn’t even realize there was a filter in it for my first smoke but it probably saved my tongue some serious pain. I now smoke it without a filter and only slightly burn my tongue most of the time.

  I got a second one from the same brand that is smaller but I can’t actually fit my tamper all the way to the bottom. I can’t think of the name it but when I get off work I’ll look at the sticker on the bottom
