Harvest time...
You making some salsa?

Salsa... not a bad idea.
The japalenos (sic) and habaneros are going to be cut into quarters today, and then into the dehydrator they go. I have a bunch of Thai peppers still outside, but they dry fine on their own. And then in a week or two, everything will get chopped up in a food processor (outside so I don't die from the fumes and dust - ask me how I know to avoid that) and I'll have crushed peppers for a good while.

You could try handing them out on Halloween, it would cut down on next year's traffic

I should post this video in Things That I Love.

Hard freeze this AM. Wool socks and gloves for my morning walk. When I got back there were eight turkeys scratching around my yard. Made my day.

Roast turkey for dinner tonight?

Welp last night I got the all clear from the ER. All good on paper but have high blood pressure. Was given a prescription and told to reduce my stress…

Let’s see how that goes….
As I’m waking to my car I get this picture of my living room ceiling.

All the fam pitches in to get it all cleaned up and planned out the next steps.Fast forward a to this morning,I walk out to my truck at the hotel to find a puddle of oil under it.
Bring it into the shop to find my tech did a **** job leaving the old gasket on the oil filter adapter and no washer on the drain plug. (The following FaceTime video with the tech was fun)

While in the air I find it has a mail in each passenger tire. Thankfully both could be plugged.

So much for reducing stress…

So, uneventful as usual?

I hear cigars reduce stress...
Hope you get things under control, Glenn.

Damnitall Glenn, there MUST be better times coming. Maybe go for a walk in a garden?

I was going to post a picture of the boat going for its winter hibernation. But the stupid new forum said no thank you. Its awful. Its so frustrating which sucks I enjoyed checking in even if I didnt post. I hardly check in anymore with all the issues.

After years of suggesting just get a cooler and boveda I find myself in possession of Dad's old wooden desktop humidor, seems to have good seals so I am in the process of seasoning, hence the boring aspect, wake me up in a few days

Why, just yesterday, I was imagining your truck in the car wash with the purple foam on the windshield.

Made it to New Mexico, Death Valley was a fun stopI don't have problems, just more work to do.

It's chilly this morning, so I told the boys to grab their jackets out of the closet to wear to church, and lo and behold, hanging on the younger one's jacket is my nightstand flashlight which has been missing for at least a month.

My dehydrator did its work on the peppers, and today was 'chopping day'. I netted about 20oz. (by volume), a nice blend of habanero/Thai/jalepeno. Even using the food processor outside, it was still a sneeze-fest: once that fine dust got airborne and found its way into my nasal passages, it meant 20min. worth of sneezing. "Gesundheit! Why, thank you."

On the way out to the mail box I bumped into four does. A couple were this years.

Aw, poor does. I hope it didn't hurt them.

Received an invitation to preview a once in a lifetime tobacco collection. It was overwhelmingly incredible. This was the same collector as the pipe collection I mentioned a few weeks back. This guy was a compulsive buyer and used buying as a coping mechanism. There was over 60 moving boxes of tinned and loose tobacco. Unfortunately, 90% or 80 ish pounds, of the loose tobacco was not properly stored and was fire starter. I estimate there was approximately 5000 tins. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Took a few hours getting through the collection and was worth the time.
A good cigar and the open road solve most problems.

And we thought we were compulsive, you guys need to up your game

I pulled the water from Pops humidor earlier this week as it had run mid80's for a week or so, it's down to 72% this morning...waiting...waiting

I finished charging my solar generators / power banks today, but it took me several days to charge the large one because of weather and the fact that the sun is lower in the sky now and there's fences and trees blocking the path. The sawhorses and boards helped get it done. I also got the apps installed for my two power banks and was able to set limits for charging / discharging which should help with long-term battery life.

Are National Parks and other sites closed due to the .gov shutdown? Specifically, Fort Monroe National Monument? Website has no alerts, but I remember threats of parks closing during prior shutdowns.

This isn't fact or gospel, just ole timers thinking.
