Dug into my T-Mobile WiFi gateway settings today to try and optimize my bandwidth. With the standard T-Life app there's no way to pick a channel, you can only reboot the gateway and hope it picks a good channel when it reboots. I could see by the WiFiAnalyzer app that my gateway wasn't using an ideal channel, but a bit of web searching and I found a 3rd party app HINT Control that could manage the gateway and supports manual channel setting.

Now I've got it set and my Internet speeds have improved.

Computers today, we set aside today to play some Steam games with the far-flung-family, but first I made bacon, bagel popeyes, and coffee, roasted coffee, then picked up the dog dirt and set up the battery bank that I use to power the coffee roaster to pick up some charge on solar in the back yard. We have to wait until the family in Tokyo wakes before playing so I had a lot of time to kill.

Then I fire up my son's gamer desktop to get it ready to play. Had to get a password and create myself an account, then set up Discord and Steam, but the mic isn't working. The Wife's laptop is gamer spec so I just had to help her with Steam and Discord and then some graphics driver settings.

Since I couldn't get the mic to work I ended up using my earbuds connected to my phone to connect to Discord for the audio back-channel while playing The Headliners, pretty fun game, but it crashed on the desktop.

I tried to pivot to my old laptop but that was worse, needed driver upgrades, etc. I told the rest of the family to go on without me while I flailed at my laptop and ordered a pizza. After eating and the gaming ended I did end up with some progress on my laptop, I was able to run a solo mission of The Headliners on my laptop. The mic still doesn't work on the desktop, but I did some upgrades and driver installs there too, as well as getting into the BIOS settings to enable TPM.

It was fun what gameplay I got to get through with the kids and to be able to chat with them on Discord during so it's not a total loss, we'll pick it up again in a couple of weeks. Our Saturday afternoon / evening is their Sunday morning / afternoon.

Dipsaluscious vacation again. Company forced me to take my last week of vaca.
