Joel is busy working on the next pass. It will be non-aromatic burley and selected English blends. Anybody want in on this pass?

    You can throw me on the end again. I don’t smoke pipe nearly as often and don’t wanna make anybody wait on me.

    Sure, I usually shy away from Burley blends, but hey, I might learn something. My fear is that if I do, I'll want to buy some new tobacco, and I don't need that. But, just for the experience, in.

    Same here, but you never know. You could find a new top 5 blend.

    Maybe in the future I'll jump in.

    @dirtdude
    @d_blades
    @Hawks
    @Stubble
    @OmgFrigginMike
    @Amos_Umwhat
    And myself.

    I'm thinking this should go back to Joel so he can try any samples that are added along the way. Its up to Joel, though.

    Yes thanks. I only smoke outside and won't be smoking much till the spring so works all ways around for me.

    First up from the pass is
    Blend No. 52
    [A distinct blend of burley, red Virginia and Dubeck brought back to life by the blenders at Peretti. This mixture offers sweetness and subtle piquancy.]

    Not sure what Dubeck is but this is pretty good. Nutty, not all that sweet, just a bit. I like it.

    Seems to leave very little moisture or dottle when finished.

    Blend No. 111
    [The same unusual blending of eight quality tobaccos as in our blend number 101, except that a non-aromatic Irish tobacco is used. An excellent, non-aromatic mixture.]

    Didnt get much nuttiness from the burley, no sweetness to speak of. Burned to ash, little if any dottle. All in all, unremarkable. Would not buy, there are too many good blends out there to spend money on than this.

    https://dutchpipesmoker.com/tag/dubek/ This page describes several Oriental tobaccos

    Dubek (Dubec)
    Another variety of Basma tobacco, Dubek comes from the Macedonian region of Greece. It has a light yellow leaf that is very aromatic and very sweet to smoke. Dubek tobacco is generally used to spice up pipe tobacco blends.

    Blend No. 333
    [A splendid blend for those who like a fairly heavy tobacco that is not aromatic but is full of flavor. It is very slow burning and cool.]

    Decent dark tobacco, ok flavor, barely a hint of the distinctive nuttiness of burley, though. Would smoke again but wouldn't buy. Left little moisture, burned to nothing.

    BPC
    [A splendid burley plug cut which smokes sweet and cool.]

    Decent taste. Dark tobacco flavor, similar to blend 333 but with a little more nuttiness. Some sweetness on the back end. Would smoke again.

    This and blend 52 are the real winners for me, out of the four.

    Moving on to the English sampler we have:
    British
    [One of our more full-bodied blends and similar to many highly priced English tobaccos. This mixture is so carefully constructed that it's perique and latakia components complement each other perfectly.]

    First thing I notice is the dryness of the tobacco. Not dried out but sort of dry. I'm not an English guy so that may be normal. It seemed like an ok smoke, just not my thing. Disregard any negative comments I may make about the English samples, they're just not my style of smoke.

    It burned to ash, no moisture in the bowl.

    Blend 500
    [A real outdoor man's smoke with plenty of flavor and full strength. A unique blend of Virginia, Havana, Perique and Oriental.]

    Tastes milder than the British, less latakia. Has a mild sweetness from the virginia, i'm guessing. Not bad, would smoke again.
