“If Canada makes a deal with China, it will immediately be hit with a 100% Tariff against all Canadian goods and products coming into the U.S.A.,” the president wrote in a Truth Social post.

If the "scientists" came up with the conclusion that it was not a big deal, the money would dry up. If they say there's something there but they need more money to study it, they will find something to support the customers preferred outcome. As long as the money keeps rolling in, there will be "climate change".

There wasn't 2.04B in the pot, though. The winner would get a portion of the pot totaling 2.04B over a period of 30 years, while the remaining part of the actual pot is invested. A moderate investment can double the principle in 10 years, so in truth, the actual pot was whatever the actual winner got before taxes.
What that really means is, the government isn't doing a very good job of investing the annuity principle, because they ought to be able to increase the principle by 8 times the original amount in 30 years, but they are only doubling it. Either that, or the government is using it to fund much more than free bus rides for the elderly.

The worst part of the whole lottery/taxation scheme is this: the lottery is voluntarily funded by individuals, using their own post-tax money. There should be zero tax on lottery winnings, not 70%.
