In Flanders fields the poppies grow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.~ John McCrae
If it don’t bother me, it don’t bother me. Just leave me alone.

I read a lot of stuff from Oswald Chambers. He was around in the late 19th/early 20th centuries, and he uses a phrase that the above quote reminds me of: "the band of finality". It was probably a colloquialism from that day, and he used it to warn people not to be too firm in their opinions.

"the band of finality". Much more creative and concise. I will look up Chambers.
I tried looking for the quote but it stumped the search engine, a rare occurrence. Best it could do wasMeet The Band: Finality

LOL. Typo. Should've been the "bane of finality" with the word bane implying a curse or the cause of harm or ruin.
Google AI says it like this: If you are referring to the conceptual phrase, the "bane of finality" refers to the suffocating nature of rigid, closed-minded perspectives—where absolute certainty shuts out the possibility of growth or spontaneity.

Thanks for the correction. Bane is more direct but band is also interesting implying a group of the inflexible.
