    I read a lot of stuff from Oswald Chambers. He was around in the late 19th/early 20th centuries, and he uses a phrase that the above quote reminds me of: "the band of finality". It was probably a colloquialism from that day, and he used it to warn people not to be too firm in their opinions.

    LOL. Typo. Should've been the "bane of finality" with the word bane implying a curse or the cause of harm or ruin.

    Thanks for the correction. Bane is more direct but band is also interesting implying a group of the inflexible.
